4l60 vs 4l65

So of course I have the 4l60 in my 4.3 right now. When the time comes to do my engine swap, I was just thinking about going on and doing a full rebuild on my 4l60. Well not me, someone who specializes in transmissions. I'm sure I would be most like paying close to 1500 for the rebuild and what not, and i have read around and seen that fully rebuilt 4l60's can hold up to 500hp.


-what would be a price estimate on getting a 4l60 rebuilt?
-what would be a price estimate on SELLING the 4l60, then buying a 4l65 and getting that rebuilt?
-what kind of power differences would i be able to make with a rebuilt 4l65 compared to a rebuilt 4l60? i mean like specifics on what the engine would do. if it would rap up higher in rpms, etc.
-are the shells of the transmission on the 60 and 65 similar? or would i run into some problems attempting to mount it under my 00 reg cab?
-would the 65 bolt up much easier to the lq4 then the 60 would?
-what trucks come stock with the 65?
-how much longer would each transmission last?

60 vs 65... same trans, but with different internals. The 65 fixes most of the weak spots of the 60. I would just put a 65 in with a shift kit, servos & huge tranny cooler, then beat the crap out of it.

That is my plan anyway.

They come in Escalades, Denalis, SS, VHO, VMAX etc.

so best thing to do is call around looking for one? when buying a lq4 and transmission, would it be wise to buy the same year of both?

and the 65 would bolt up much easier to the 6.0 correct? also would it be a better idea to go ahead and get the whole 65 rebuilt now, or just not worry about it? because the idea for the engine now is just going to be cam/bolt ons/stall etc. for now. then later on im going to boost it. but thats WAY later. so i mean with just that stuff, is it ok to do what you were saying with the shift kit and the servos or what? i had no doubt that i was going to get a tranny cooler no matter what, but yeah.

If you&#39;re going to boost later ,I would go ahead and have that thing rebuilt instead of going through the trouble later. Its better to do it while its down, then to be stranded somewhere with a unrebuilt used transmission that couldn&#39;t hang with the boost. Beef it up man.The stronger the better&#33; :rock:

plus the 4l65e will match up with the back of the 6.0 better. on mine the 60e leaves 2 sufficient gaps, and although they r no big deal it would be nicer to have it match up perfectly with the bell housing.

Your&#39;s does that because it came off a V6. The 60 and 65e on late model V8s are identical.

I rebuilt my 60e to a 65e and its a badass transmission&#33; It will bolt up just fine.

im goin with a 65e in a few months rebuilt of course. if i go with the 60e again and have it rebuilt i could make it strong to though right?
