Stupid spark plug leads!

So I am changing out my spark plugs and pull a lead. Well my buddy is helping me and I told him not to pull any other leads, that i had to do them one at a time. Well what does he do? He pulls one and mixes it up with the one I just pulled. Now I don't know which one went where. So I just got frustrated and left it so I don't screw it up by putting the wrong lead in the wrong cyclinder.

I had the stock ACDelco wires and was hoping someone could tell me which wires went where.
You know, like a spark plug map?
A firing order?
An old diagram you drew up?
Something.

It's a 2000 Chevy Silverado 4.8l.
If ANYONE that still has the same stock plugs in their 99 or 00(which i doubt) can you please tell me the order the numbers are in. There is a little number on the side of the boot which connects into the coil, if you could tell which order they are in I could use it.

DRIVER SIDE radiator end of engine is number 1 then 3 then 5 then 7.
PASSENGER SIDE radiator end of engine is 2 then 4 then 6 then 8.

Your 4.8L isn&#39;t one coil per spark plug? It won&#39;t matter if that is so, the cables are too short to mess them up.

If it still has a distributor, the firing order will be embossed on the intake manifold. Typically GM timing on a distributor type engine is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 unless you have a newer replacement cam that flips the firing order of two cylinders that is supposed to smooth the power curve of the engine out.

Now, you are talking about a 2000 GM 4.8L engine? :nutz:

Ok, if this is on a 00 4.8 then I am really lost. What do you need a wire diagram for? You have 4 coils on each valve cover, directly below each coil is a spark plug. The wires just run straight down to the plugs from the coil? Did I miss something........


Now if this is on a old school chevy v8 with a distributor then refer to the previous post.

I didnt want to sound like a smart ass :nono: but my wifes 4.8 is one coil per cylinder like my 5.3.Does the 4.3 V-6 have a distributor or single coil?

The 4.3 V-6 has a distributor with one external coil.

Yes the 4.3 has a distributor and one coil, however I was under the impression that he was refering to the 4.8L ?

Yeah, ya got me on that one. But, he was referring to the wires as "leads," which (and I&#39;m not tring to be an ass here) is not typical of someone in the U.S. So, maybe he is in another country and his truck&#39;s 4.8 does have a distributor

Honest to goodness truth, this was the first time I have changed those stinking things out. Freaked out cuz I didn&#39;t realize at the time I wrote this that all the wires are the same length because they all have seperate coils. Thus it didn&#39;t matter if I mixed them up or not.
The next morning after I wrote this I smacked myself after realizing my ignorance and changed all the plugs and wires in about 45min to an hour.
Pretty good for first try huh and with NO help. I decided that my buddy was more help than good.

Anyways, I used ACDelco wires and ACDelco Iridium plugs. Can&#39;t go wrong with that combo :thumb:
Only cost me a whopping &#036;153 bucks.........stupid delco wires&#33;&#33;&#33;

Of course those plugs were &#036;6.58 a piece also&#33;&#33;
But she is running strong now. Started right up with no hesitation.

P.S. I said "leads" because that is what was printed on the instructions and that is what the parts guy called them. I am just a redneck from TN.
