Honest opinions

I've finally got some money to spend on my 01 5.3L Tahoe but I keep going back and forth on what to do w/ it. I want to get as much horsepower w/ say $3000-$5000 as I can w/o going to forced induction. I have been think about going w/ stage II heads, 1.8 rockers and a set of headers. I would like to get as many suggestions and/or testimonials as possible before making a decision. Current mods are K & N 77 series, hypertech flash (which I am definately getting rid of as soon as I decide on other mods) and a flowmaster cat back system.

why not go forced..its a hell of alot better than buying all that other go fast stuff for 40 to 60 hp when you can go sts and run 5 psi and get 125 to 150 xtra hp for almost the same money.when you get ready to trade just take it off and sell it or put it on your next purchase

:imwstupid: Forced induction is the cheapest power, and the easiest to install and remove. And it sounds cool.

When I bought the truck I was warned by a couple of people they are known for having the occasional head gasket problem. Can I expect good reliability, durability and longevity w/ forced air?

Sts all the way i have heard nothing but good things about them and to my knowledge have had no reliability issues if i had the $$$ i would do it.

Like heads, cam and headers will not have a reliability problem? Even heard of bent valves, bent pushrods or problems with headers cracking? You cannot go wrong with a conservative FI setup. The 5 lb STS setup should be a very safe way to go and when you're done with it put the truck back to stock and sell it or sell it with the turbo on it and get every penny back you put into it.

if you are scared of head gasket failure then stay away from heads and cams because your gonna be looking for more compression ratio with those mods to get more hp out of em...you cant go wrong with a 5 psi sts kit and if you will even have a little patience..you can pick one up for cheaper than buying the kit...this guy GONEB4U here on the site sold one the other day on ebay....check prices with everybody and go for the best price and save some bucks for a nelson tune cause you gotta have a tune with tha kit...and after the install...thats all we will be hearing from you is :eek: damn...cant beleave it :lol: hell :taunt: ..watch this :burnout: hehehe.....

if my truck was paid off i would have some FI right now whether it was a turbo or charger....hell, some trucks even come with a factory warranty pushing 5.5 psi(joe gibbs)
