Hey all I drive an 03 Av 1500, I am in the market for a new exhaust. I currently have the Flowmaster Original 40 series, single 3"/dual 2.5 muffler installed. I was reading some places that flowmaster mufflers aren't the greatest. My current engine mods are listed below in my sig. With the Dynatech's now installed it is loud........real loud......like dragster loud :4:. I like it, my friends like it, people even do a double take to make sure it is my truck making that noise. Loudness doesn't bother me, or the police, cause they haven't pulled me over yet. So my question is, what is the best exhaust, that will give me the most power, and that will integrate perfect with my current setup. In the future, I do plan on supercharging as well.

if you like loud, get some cutouts. that aughta get the cops after ya  they will probably perform better than the flows too.

You want classic sound? Flowmaster 40 series
You want good sound that's not like everyone elses? Magnaflow
You want the best flowing muffler? Hooker MaxFlow 521cfm!!
You want better than average flow and decently loud sound? Hooker AeroChamber
You want to spend an arm and leg for a good exhaust? Corsa

Thanks for the quick replies, I know any cat-back system (in most cases) will perform better than just a muffler swap. I heard a Corsa on an AV with a Volant Cold-Air Box this weekend. I was ok, kinda raspy with high pitched crackling when the rpm's were comming down, but I wanna know what it would sound like on my truck before i spent $600+ on it. I would consider a cut-out with a nice flowing smooth sounding muffler, but I cannot find a cut-out in 3".

i took a look at the cut-out. i think i'm gonna get it. now what muffler should i get that will give me a nice smooth tone??
-
what piping config should i run as well?? single 3 inch cat back, or 3 inch into the muffler, with dual 2.5 or 2.25 out??

i think 90% of the av's get the 3" in and out or the 3"in and duel 2.25 out. the smaller pipe on the duel out keeps the low end torque high to get that heavy beast going...
