Cam question....
I have an 04 tahoe with a 5.3 and i just purchased a cam that is 236/242 .580/.590 with a 114 LSA, and i was wondering how well this cam will work and whats length pushrods i should use and what size stall? I was thinking a 3000? Im also going to be ordering the comp 918 springs. How well is this combo going to work and should i be looking at gears as well? The truck will never pull anything heavier then a few dirt bikes. Any help would be great!

Good gawd that's a huge cam for a 5.3L - especially in a heavy Tahoe. Not a fun daily driver by any means, and you'd need a stall WAY north of 3K to match up with the power band.
-
so maybe i should go with a different one?

what about 226/229 .575/.578

That's where I'm ordering mine from. They give a pretty decent description of what each cam is good for.

man those are some pricey cams. you can get a comp for that.

should have asked questions before you buy ;) but since you bought the cam already yes its to big for a 5.3 can it work? yes, to its full potential NO.
so from this tahoe what are you wanting out of it?
has any other mods been done?

its kinda big but not to crazy.....i guess, you need a bigger than 3,000 stall is a little small but depending on what your wanting to do it could work just fine.

eh, ones off jegs for our trucks are like 360, and seem like poor choices for street trucks...I'd rather spend the extra 60 bucks and get something with good customer service/ lot of customer backing.
I want low end, not trying to redline the motor to get truck moving
