Cruise control
So 2 nights ago I was driving home and went to hit the cruise cuz I was tired and half paying attention. Hit the button and got nothing. Tried it a few times and it never worked. Tried it again last night on the way home from school and same thing. It worked Saturday afternoon and then Sunday night it didn't. What can I do to fix it?

Check the fuses, one might have blown on you. Then check the linkage on the throttle body to make sure that it didnt come off. Then vacuum lines to the cruise control diaphram if there is one. Start easy then look deeper.

does the light come on on the dash?....or do u get absolutley nothing when u hit the button? i.e. no light or anything?
-
No light at all.
I get absolutely nothing. It's like I'm not pushing the button at all.
I'll check the fuses and linkage when I get home from work.

do you have LED tail lights or an LED third brake light??

my silverado would do a wierd thing. cruise always worked then it wouldnt. i found out that if i hit the brake pedal then apply the cruise button my cruise would work normally. I dont remember if it did this back when it was an auto but since its been a t56 thats how mine is.

There is no fuse for cruise only in most cases nor is there any vacuum lines involved at all. It's been a long time since the trucks have had a vacuum servo. Need a scan to give you inhibit reason and to check brake switch parameter. Worst case is the worm gear in the cruise module is stripped....$1 part that is not serviced to kill a $450 cruise module. Once again, still need to verify cruise switch and brake switch operation.

Sounds like a good time to visit the local picknpull or ebay for a replacement part.

actually the abs fuse controls something in the cruise feature.
