great mileage
ok so my buddy ask'd me to come down to his place in san marcos and hang out for a couple days. so i had just done the drive to barona casino down there with my buddies and got a combined average of 16.5 which pissed me off. almost all highway. but we were averaging 80ish most the time. so then i deciced that i would drive very conservatively this time and i was by myself so i wouldn't succumb to peer pressure. so i ended up getting 20.0 mpg. total trip was 220 miles on 11 gals of fuel. it would have been better but i let my friend drive for about 30 miles of that cause i had to drop him off so wear and needless to say he didnt drive easy. so my advice is to keep ur speed around 65, dont haul up hills causing severe downshifts. just be easy. i think 20 mpg for a 6k pound truck is pretty good, just thought i"d share my experience. also anybody think a throttle body spacer will increase this enough, had it on my jeep and did wonders.

this is really true...if you can keep it under 2000rpm at cruising speed your mileage will vastly improve...i never thought it made that big of a difference but i will be damned if it doesnt :D

20 mpg is great, get a custom tune and just maybe get more out of her ;)

The money spent a tb spacer would be worthless unless it had a nitrous jet....:burnrubb:
You would be better off getting a port and polish job on your stock throttle body by someone who's reputable, better results per $. ;)(would be around the price of a tb spacer)
edit: dang im slow at posting, was none before i dropped this... lol

Our trucks don't respond to rpm so much as they do stress on the engine. You can be in 4th gear with the converter locked turning 1700 rpm but if you have the pedal down just shy of downshifting your gas mileage will be crappy.
If you don't believe me, go do run on the highway and check out your injector duty cycle.
I say this speaking from experience both doing manual calculations, logging with EFI Live, and my aeroforce also does a pretty accurate job of current MPG estimates.

Wind resistance is the biggest thing.
Before I lifted my truck, i was getting 26-27 mpg if i drove 55-65 whole time.
Now I can still bust out an 18 every now and then, and that's with big ole tires. Think truck was only rated at 19 new.
Normally i get 12-14 tho. (i normally set cruise at 80, and that's a lot of wind)
Full synthetics, ud, electric fans, intake/exhaust/programmer.

How did you get 26 MPG? At stock height trying my hardest to stay out of the gas I could only muster 18MPG hwy. Do tell you MPG secrets!

full synthetics. had a 3.42 at the time. intake. cats/straight pipe exhaust. Electric fans. 80mm tb. Tonneau cover. i'm not sure. had a big debate on ctw about it. Did it 2 seperate times. I DO use lucas fuel additive on long trips tho. i seem to get 1-2 mpg better when it is in my tank. Not quite sure why. The speed is biggest thing. At 55, truck is almost idling.

I've mustered up 28, shifting below 2000, keeping it around 60. K&N filter, Magnaflow muffler and tire pressure at 40. Next pay check is a tune for the little bugger and hopefully hit 30 mpg.

6.0 gets best mileage when kept under 2000 RPM on the highway regardless of other factors assuming everything is working OK and you don't have a flat tire. Mine can get almost 17 in perfect conditions.
