OK I have a 04 silverado 1500 crew cab with a 5.3ltr in it. I live in Texas. How do I know if I have A.I.R. or EGR to order headers from edlebrock. I don't think I have A.I.R. but they are 3 different part numbers and was wondering if anyone had an idea? When I called edlebrock they didn't know either.

Really I hope that's right so I can order the right headers.
GM stopped putting EGR on trucks in '02. Unless you got your truck in Cali or ordered it with their emissions you don't have AIR injection either.Quote:

nickle plated or ceramic coated from either SLP or Edelbrock? Thoughts? :whack:
got my ceramics from edelbrok,perfict fit and no problems so far.
Yes, he is correct, no Air and no EGR. Unless you bought your truck in Cali.
I'd say between the 2, Edelbrock. Another member bought a set of the SLP and had mounting clearance problems with the steering shaft bolt and had to have in machined down before he could finalize the install. I almost bought the SLP's when before I heard about this. Now I am re-thinking which ones I want to get.
JBA fit very well, I have them on my truck...
Did the Stainless/Nickel Plated headers on my truck 5.3 worked great no real issues to deal with make truck sound better, I went a purchased a stock doughnut seal and used it, also got stock metal manafold gaskets to use thought they were a bit better then the ones from e-brock. I also purchased Stage8 locking bolts would highley recomend them they work awsome.

I simply used lockwashers on my bolts to resist backing out... put about 3k on them since them (mostly city milage) and not one has backed out. Good cheap alternative.
