Has anyone heard or put a 4.00 stroke crank in a 5.3 to get a 359 or a 5.3 bored .030 over with a 4.00 crank and have a 365. I think you will get alot of torque and good fuel milage, because 5.3 block are easier to find in junk yards.

I hear of that happening but they put the LS1 pistons in instead for a 383.
for effort might as well make iron 383
When my truck finaly isnt a daily this was on my mind as well. Anyone got any info on how they perform? If they are good for everything or good for nothing?
if i was to keep that block i would do 383 as well
to fit ls1 pistons in a 5.3 you would have to bore it .100 i think. these blocks handle that bore?
Yes, the 4.8/5.3 block can handle the LS1 piston overbore. :thumb:
whats most you can bore 5.3 out?
thats about it, safely. If you know a machine shop with a sonic bore tester they can measure the wall thickness of your block and get you the largest safe bore possible and then you can order custom pistons. Be prepared to pay over $1000 for them though.
a 4 inch crank would fit, but pistons would cost you left testicle. a 383 would cheaper and easier to build.
