how much stall?

Ok my trans is starting to act up, its got a slide then bump going into second gear. I dont have but 25k on my truck and GM dealership wouldnt warranty it because I have aftermarket exhaust, and Volant air intake. They said that GM is cracking down on warranty claims because of them going broke and they are not warrantying vehicles with aftermarket performance parts. So I gave them a few choice words, and I have decided to get my trans built right and turbo my truck since my warranty doesnt mean anything anyways.

So what I am wanting to know is first of all which stall and brand converter should I buy? right now my truck has the mods listed in my sig. but I am going to be buying a turbo in the next 6 months and dont want to replace my converter again after I do that. so which stall will work best with my mods and work well with a turbo too? I was thinking 3000 but wasnt sure.

also what all are you guys doing to your trans when you build them. the guy I am getting to build it said something about 3-4 servo, beast shell, z pak cluthes, and said something else but cant remember what he said. but let me know what all you guys are doing.

the CAI and exhaust only warrentied those parts of warrenty. Go to a different dealership and have them service your trans. they can not denie you cause you didnt violate the warrenty.

Borrow a stock airbox and go to another dealer. Exhaust won't void a warranty.

The warranty is worth something on a stock vehicle. In fact, that truck HAD a 5 year 100K mile powertrain warranty.

The tuner and the gears will void the warranty....at least the engine, trans, rear axle, PCM, etc. (technically).

Don't be mad at the dealer. Be mad that GM has rules and that they're not being followed. Why do we expect the dealer to be left holding the bag for a $2500 claim that gets rejected? If GM rejects a claim (and more and more these big ones are getting looked at very closely), the dealer eats the cost.

The best way to treat a situation is to realize that GM (not the dealer as the dealer is a franchise and can refuse service to anyone at any time although it's bad for business) has to prove (if you were to spend way to much on a lawsuit) that the mods directly caused a certain failure. Also, many times you can get by with hiding the mods as best as possible although any tech in his right mind would be able to tell it has 4.10's.....and the 07+ the dealer tech can tell if the PCM/TCM has been programmed.....even if a handheld is used to put the stock tune back in.

But dont most dealerships cry out that added horsepower from aftermarket voids the warranty because the stock tranny only capable of xxx amount of horsepower? And even then if there is a hard part failure, try and prove that a cold air intake directly caused it and not just a junky 4l60e

DEALERS cry because GM won't pay the claim and they're left holding the bag. GM doesn't own the dealerships, people (OK, sometimes robots) do.

08+ GM ECU's log flashes. Straight from the horses ass @ gm (read the bulletin given to a local GM dealership, as well as a few other things. Its nice to have someone that works for GM as a friend sometimes)

I'd say make sure the stock tune is in it, and hike on off to another dealer! either that or ask them to prove that the modifications done to the vehicle is what caused the issue (and they have to do this in order to deny warranty properly)

**edit** and to allow room for future 'plans' i would suggest a 3200-3600rpm converter providing you dont really tow with it)

The dealer does not have to prove anything to refuse any type of service, GM does. Either the dealer can try to help by involving GM management or the dealer can turn the customer away and let the customer find GM management. Either way, the burden of proof is taken from the dealer and put on GM.

I can see log changes on the 07's too. Having the stock tune back in doesn't help.

No matter who is ultimately responsible for warranty coverage, the consumer has rights and protections as provided by the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975. This even applies for aftermarket parts. The link below provides information wrt aftermarket parts. A salient quote from the link:
