Sound Deadening in The Z

I though I would share a little bit of the non-performance side of my truck. This project has been going on for quite some time now and I am still definitely not done...

Here goes to the start of deadening my 02 Z71. Lots of deadening going in.

155 Sq ft. Raammat
5 or 6 Yards Ensolite
5 gallons and 1 quart of Spectrum

GM's way of trying to stop you from removing the rear bolts on the front seats an 11mm 12 point did the trick. Also the front nuts on the front seat are removable with 15mm 12 point.

The rear light needs to be removed before dropping the headliner to disconnect the light

The amount of time put into this is something fierce but it really does help the overall sound quality of the vehicle. If you guys have any questions post up!

Did similar to my truck just now quite as involved. When did you start and when you projected to be finished?

Started early March this year and projected to get done by the end of this year. With the heat this project really took a back burner. Most the work I have to do is to finish glassing the large holes in the front door then deaden them.

oh yeah, I still have 5 gallons of spectrum to apply, which means the truck has to come apart again sometime. I plan on applying spectrum to every piece that I can and coating the floor, back wall, etc.

Then I have to install the ensolite as well.

Damn... didn't realize I still have soo much to do

damn that does look like alot of work. But I bet it will pay off!

When I had stock exhaust I tried to start the truck while it was running when my window was rolled down.....

You definitely can tell the difference when you do the doors really well and add in a pair of amped speakers and a sub. When you seal the doors and put them in a IB situation they can extend a lot lower, and mid range response is greatly improved. With the sub you eliminate a lot of cancellation caused by rattling panels and effectively make it louder.

I have yet to install the ensolite, which should eliminate road noise
