Well it's done. He took it out to drive it but couldn't get on it too much given the roads are all wet, so he's going to keep it overnight and hope things are dried up a little by tomorrow.

The roads aren't wet!
Someone just called me from up North, they saw your truck haulin ass down the highway, oh well.
I'm 1st in line Greg.
Please.
Post 245: The trans is finished and in and seems to be good-to-go.
Roads are still wet, so once it dries up some I'll thrash on it a little and see how it holds up.
I'm glad I have my baby back. :D
moze if it does break again i'll give ya $500 for the rest of the truck lol
If it breaks again, I'll give YOU $500 to take it.
Moze if it breaks again, wanna buy my FLT LVL 5 4L70e? It's stronger than what you've got... and it's for sale.
I've seen two 70's lately....one was exploded bad enough to split the case and the other was on it's 7th or 8th rebuild....LOL
Thanks for pooping on my parade guys:(. I wouldn't want him to have it if he couldn't make it work.
GG what were those 70's out of?
One was out of the 07 GMT900 MAX and the other from an 06 TBSS.
To be honest I could not tell the 70's from the 65's I've been in. In fact, the 5-planet sets are the only thing I could see (with my eyeballs) different between the 60 and the 65/70.
Time to find a new tranny for me. Nothing is wrong with mine besides 500hp at the wheels for 2,6xx miles. I'd rather sell it now while it's good cuz it's not going to support what I'm fixin to throw at it.
Sorry for the thread jack Moze but we are trying to make it to page 100:lol:
So it works OK still? Wanna send me a PM with a price in case the 70 I did on the cheap takes a dump soon?
Gonna go THM400 Kurt? I'd like to build that for ya...still in Denton?
x2 if i can keep the one piece driveshaft like Jay was talking about last night im sold, i will just go th400 with some 3.23's or 3.42's...not like i drive the truck all the time, hell i will loose weight from the trans, t-case, front diff, and cv's....my truck might get under 5,000lbs and still retain the stock appearance...im pretty much sold on it....and i see a th400 getting hit with a 400 shot and a 540 BB with a dana 60 31 x 13 slicks and pulling the wheels and the trans has never missed a beat
Why did GM put such a POS transmission in a truck? The 400 is the way to go without a doubt esp the power/weight your going to have Virg... It would be sweet to see the truck under 5k without stripping the truck out. Are you two DBW?
im DBW and Moze is DBC....im thinking i will just go manual valve body and run a 3400 stall so that way im almost instant boost....may even do a t-brake
TH400 TB is reasonably priced. 80e is highway robbery for a tbrake.
i want to keep the DBW and i have seen a shifter come through the console on a SS truck and it looked really clean....im really leaning that way and the guy also said it will light up the right gear selector on the dash and the build cost also is way cheaper...its getting better and better...only thing im still questioning is the speedo...i know they make a conversion for the th350 but what about the 400??
Remember the 400 only has a 2.48 1st gear too so you'll want at least 3.55-3.73 with a heavy truck and a big stall. You really don't wanna be in the "loose" RPM range of the converter at 45 MPH.
OK....
1st in a 400 feels closer to 2nd in a 60/65/70.
Depends on tire height.
truck will have a 31'' for DD and they make a 29.5 x 11 tire that i will run for the track...i wanna keep a lighter gear for the freeway...most of the people i run with like rol racing
Depends on what RPM you shift.
:tvhaha:
There are a whole lot of variables to take into account when choosing gears. :nutz:
