What made you go with shorties over long tubes? Looked like there would have been plenty of clearance available for the lt's to fit.

The headers are looking good, what type of header bolts are you going to go with?? I haven't decided what to do with mine, I used Stage 8 locking bolts on my LT1 and they worked great.
I use stock header bolts... =/
Mainly cost. I'm over budget now and running short on funds. I got these for $200, then I can have them coated locally for $140. That puts me at $340 in ceramic coated stainless headers. The least expensive coated LT's I could find were $625.
I'll probably just pick up some ARP bolts or maybe even go with stock bolts
Your engine and truck look amazing. Nice work.
Slow week last week, but here's what I happened to get done.
After close inspection of the headers, it looked like I may have an issue. I bolted the trans to see what the deal is.

It looks like it may just barely clear with the right collectors.

I finished up the wire looms. I should have my wires back in this evening, so I can go ahead and run them through and put the grommets in. Here's how they look with the headers.

I also took all my bolts to be powdercoated black, so they would stand out against the aluminum color better. They should be done today, and I'll pick them up tomorrow, then start bolting things together for the final time.
those header are snug, huh.
Yep. lol
cut that trans ear.....keep the headers.
Things are just moving slow lately. It seems like I just get in a hurry to wait at this point.
I had all my bolts powdercoated. Bad idea!! I've never had anything powdercoated, so I didn't know it was so thick. I've ordered some stripper from Eastwood to remove it all, but again, I'm waiting for it to get here. There's a place up the road from me that does nitriding. I'm going to see what that's gonna cost me before I decide what to do with the bolts again.
I did get the ears trimmed on the trans. to clear the exhaust tubing, then painted it.

Finally got the frame painted and installed the engine towers.

And just because I didn't have anything else to do, I stuck everything on just to see how it was all going to look together.
