whats the difference in a tr 220 112lsa and a tr 220 114lsa???
just the LSA, all the other specs will be the same.
the 112 will have a choppier idle than the 114 and the power band will be shifted a little bit towards the upper RPM range.
No, it goes the other way. When the LSA becomes more narrow, the intake valve closes sooner, which causes the power band to move lower in the RPM range. This of course assumes that the intake/exhaust centerlines are moved toward each other to narrow the LSA.
Now, a narrower LSA causes more overlap, which can improve upper RPM performance. But it only affects the upper RPMs in the original power band, which causes the cam to be a little more peaky. It has virtually no effect on the actual location of the power band. That is determined primarily by the intake valve closing timing, and, to a much lesser extent, the exhaust valve opening timing.
soo the 114 will be more lopey than the 112?
No.
Don't confuse lope with high end power increase. The 112 will be choppier but will make a flatter band helping the lower mid more than a 114. Increased duration adds lope AND upper power while losing a little bottom with every step.
No - a wider LSA makes for a flatter power band. A narrower LSA causes the power band to be more peaky.
ONLY if the increased duration causes more overlap to occur. Increased duration, in and of itself, does not cause more lope. Lope is a function of intake charge dilution, which is caused by exhaust gasses being drawn into the intake maifold during valve overlap.
but the lower # lsa the choppier thats for sure
BRANNEN if your goin for the sound of the cam, get you a 112 lsa, you wont like the sound of a 114, idk what mad maxx and Nate are arguing about but im sure its about to hit the fan
Basically Maxx is being very very technical. Nate is dumbing it down for us. GENERALLY the lower the LSA the more choppy the idle. Maxx is argueing that with enough LSA the duration wont make a difference in idle sound. Like my 228/226 on a 116+3 doesnt have much chop at all. While at the same time I think maxx is going back saying that chop is directly relative to duration in relation to LSA.... :ugh2: I think that is the jist of it.... If maxx wasnt being a super brain I think him and nate are saying the same thing....
112 it is :jumper: ready to get everything put in :D..
what kinda of times u think this will see in the 1/8 in 1/4
4.8, tr220 112lsa, cai,tbspacer,longtubes,ory, 3600 yank, shift kit,servos and 4.10s out back...
now for future references how will this cam hold up against any funny gas ??
