Got the tran's back late this afternoon. Time to get back on it.
Just a fast up date. Motor is in what a pain that was took 2 hr's to get the motor mount bolts in. Working by your self sometimes is a pain. Trans is in. Got that thing on my chest man is it heavy . Cross-Member is cut and welded back. Doing the wiring and all the other little thing got to put the headers on. I will just keep on work a little at a time. Little trick for any that have never had the motor mount off before. Take the 4 long bolts that hold them to the frame and sharping the ends a little. Make them go back in a lot nicer.
Damn son--you need to find someone who isn't a moron to help you with all of this!!! I bet is was a PITA trying to do it all by yourself!!!
And yes--80es are quite a bit heavier!
Did you not try using a large punch of slot head screwdriver to try and align the motor mount holes with the frame? But when I have done so, I have always has someone to help... Good work!
I tried everything I could think of to get the bolts in. They went rigt in the back but could not get them to start on the nuts on the front. All the old cars the mount bolt are tapered so I figured do them should work and it did. Before I even stared on the trans made me two long bolt with the head cut off tapered them once I got the trans on them it was a piece of cake. Got to set in the house today they will not let me out when I have to take all the pain shots for my legs 12 in all. All right in the Goren. Back on it tomorrow.
Cool, good thinking.
Shots for your legs? (if you don't mind me asking)
One of my hips has been replaced 4 times. And I am going to have to have it done again soon. The shots are so I can get out and do stuff like all you normal people HAHAHAHA. Keeps the pain at bay. My Doc say's I am his worst patient will not say in the house got to get out and do thing or I will go nut's. My wife say's I am done there.
Can ya get us some pics? :pics:
Of what my hip??? hehehaha. Yes tomorrow. Just came in got the trans bolted all the way up put the starter on. Drive shaft is in. Man getting the u-joints out the first time is a pain put in new ones.Going ahead and replacing all the sensors. If I get to work on it tomorrow hope to get the headers on and get everything under the truck done so I can get to the top half. All together now "BLOWER TIME"
Good work mayne. Yeah, a pry bar is needed to pop the U-Joints out. Yeah, not a bad idea to replace the sensors...it would be a pain to get it all buttoned up and then have it throw codes.
Keep us informed.
