I almost eliminated the drone completely when I put my pipes like I have them now. I kept them the same way when I put the magnaflow on, now road noise is louder than my exhaust on the highway and I love it.

magnaflow will deff. kill your noise. if you put a bullet in front it will probably quieter than stock. from personal knowledge....... thus i became i total fan of straights LOL
Well now im goin for the stealthy approach... My dad just got a flowtech warlock, its a nice quite turbo muffler but also has a cutout built in that can be uncorked to make it straight through
Hey, I work for Flowmaster and hear what you are saying. The Original 40 series mufflers are clearly the wrong mufflers for you. There are a wide variety of options and I'm sorry that someone didn't service your needs better. If you read down the threads, there is another guy with 40 Delta Flow mufflers - and he likes them. Maybe the 50 Series is right for you. And there are other choices that will help you increase power and won't make you hate driving your truck because its too loud. Take a look at the website - Flowmaster, Inc The Muffler and Exhaust Technology Company manufacturer of performance exhaust systems, mufflers, exhaust kits. I'd like to help you get the right parts for your truck.
I need to get a vid of the new set up...maybe I will do it this week. I think I have a video of my old exhaust..stock manifolds with true dual 40 delta flows out the sides. It sounded good to me. If it's not up here already I'll upload it tonight and post it. Then possibly get a new clip...exhaust leaks and all
Man, it's weird hearing all these complaints about Flowmasters droning on these trucks. My '02 xcab 5.3 had a 50 Series Delta Flow with 2 pipes out the sides when I got it, and sounded almost stock-quiet. I had a Flowmaster "Muscle Truck" system installed, which has a Super 40 and 2 pipes in front of the right tire, and it sounded great. It rumbled all the time, but it only droned once- getting on a freeway ramp with the family, and a small load in the bed. It NEVER droned otherwise. My current '97 (5.0 Vortec) has a 40 Series with 2 pipes out the back, and it doesn't drone either, although it, too, rumbles all the time. Both trucks drowned out the rumble easily with the stereos.
I dunno... Maybe the pipes (or lack of, if you're running dumps) are part of your problems...
