my dad has a magna charger, and he says that all in all it cost him about 10k for the dealership to do everything, i think thats a little high tho

Yeah, a dealer installed Maggie is VERY $$$$. The only thing is that you do retain the factory warranty. If you want a S/C AND a warranty, you have to pay the big bucks...

Definately do headers that go 2 into 1 using the stock sized pipe before the muffler!!! I have that (minus the aftermarket headers) and I noticed that my truck had more pep in the bottom end. Ture duals and 3" pipes are for people pushin more power.... Just my 2 cents.

is there any advantage/disadvantage to welding vs. just bolting up an exhaust?

Welding gives you a more air-tight, secure joint. It cuts down on exhaust leaks. Band clamps are easy to use, but you run the risk of exhaust leaks. BUT welding is a FIXED joint. If you want to rework something, you have to cut it out. Band clamps work OK with exhausts--I have seen some that don't leak at all, and I have seen some that leak like a sieve...
