hey nate...can u look and see if its the same part# for that brake booster, mine on my L92 intake is broken and im gonna have to replace it and i need a part number.

so where did y'all tap in the coolant hose that's supposed to go from throttle body to the radiator?
pics would help as well
I think i almost have everything for swap.... my cam is coming in on tuesday then i'm installing that. i need to find a harness this week and maybe get a starter, then order pushrods
Is there anything else that i should know bout that others ran into? i'm aiming for the swap to be in the first or second week november
I've tapped mine into the water pump body right next to the heater hose.headers022.jpg picture by redheartbeat - Photobucket
so it don't really matter too awful much where it goes?
i don't really feel like tapping into the pump itself, but i can do it to the reservoir->radiator hose or either of the heater hoses going to the firewall, right?
Hey guys I know this thread has been going on for quite a while but I have decided to go ahead with this swap for my truck (1999 GMC Sierra 4.3 1500 4wd for a 2002 Yukon 5.3) and have already bought the motor and most of the parts i need but have already hit a problem with the intake and the EGR valve. The intake on the motor I bought does not have the port for the EGR Hose. Any suggestions? or Comments? I am worried about emissions and will get another intake if i have to...
You can see the plastic where it is supposed to go. I just don't want the AZ emissions to fail me or the engine to throw some code that it lost contact with the EGR or something because it is not plugged in
My registration under the DMV is a 99 GMC I don't think they will care what I tell them because I have tried argueing with them about other stupid things. Just to be safe i thing i will find a different intake and swap them out.
so where'd you get a 1/2" to 1/4" T fitting?
i've tried most places in town & the best i can come up with is a $10-15 custom-made one, a 1/2" to 3/8" T and then add some 3/8" tubing with a 3/8" to 1/4" reducer, and a company who might actually have what i need but won't answer the telephone
i found it at oreallys by the lawn mower spark plugs...for some reason
mine mighta been a 1/2 to 7/16...it was a tight fit on the small hose....took quite a bit of elbow grease to get it to work...ill snap a pic at lunch
What kind of weight gain going from iron 4.3 to all iron 6.0?
7/16??... that's almost a 1/2. was it a 5/16? if it was 7/16, i'll just use the 3/8 i have now
i'm guessing not too awful much. the 4.3 weighs 435, i think, and the 5.3 (with aluminum heads) weighs 470. i'd figure, what, another 15-25 lbs for the iron heads & bigger pistons?
anybody else know the actual weight?
i'm taping into one of the 3/4 hoses going to the firewall. using a T fitting into a 3/8, then reduce 3/8 into 5/16. Would that wrk ok i guess?
I"'m doing my swap the end of next week, hopefully i won't run into any problems
i reckon that'd work. that's what i was about to do with the reservoir tank - T off to a 3/8 then reduce to 1/4, but i just didn't want to have that extra section of hose & 2 clamps to have to look at. when i was at the shop yesterday, i managed to man handle it enough to make the 1/4 hose fit on the 3/8 nipple, so i'm just gonna skip the reducer.
updates will be in my build thread after while...
started diconnecting transmission plug-ins and took ac system out last night....... today i'm finishing unplugging everything and taking motor out
i'll start a thread when i get time on my build..... hopefully drop the new one in tomorrrow
How many miles/what are you gonna do with your old 4.3?
the v6 has a lil over 147k, i might have a buyer for it, but not sure yet
yea i'm supposed to get my pcm back tomorrow so hopefully it is. wasnt planning on it but i ended up pulling my tranny and making a mess
Swap is done and truck is a dawg right now
plus my injectors are to small
why do you say your injectors are too small? didn't you use the stock injectors that came in the 5.3 intake? I have my 5.3 all ready to put in with the fuel lines installed and i new paint job. Just need to basically pick a weekend and install it. Can i use my stock engine coolant sensor for the electric fans or will the computer get mad and throw a code because i have it unplugged and wired into my own fan wiring harness.
i'll get a thread going bout my swap soon.... getting my lt's and ory this week. i had wheatley tune my truck, and my injector cycle duty is at 109% so i needa get bigger injectors.
what year 5.3 did you get? i believe the 99 models had smaller injectors than the rest
has anyone who has already done this swap had any issues with the fuse pannel. Can the stock v6 one work?
yes you can use the factory fuse box...
Ok and then i was also wondering what sensor people are using to turn on thier electric fans. i want to use one that screws into the blank on the head for the coolant and was wondering if anyone else has done it this way and if so where they got thier part?
most of us tie in to the pcm so it will go off the factory thermostat
is this difficult to do? what parts does it require?
nelson sells a harness that make it super simple
I hit a block in my conversion because i found out i have a 06 wiring harness and it obviously won't work on my 99 and wiring harness' don't grow on trees. Here are a couple of pictures of my swap progress.

nice... i pulled my harness off a a Cash For Clunkers Truck
Yeah thats what i'll probably end up doing. Do you know how much your junkyard charged you? I imagine even from a junkyard it was a pretty penny
paid 100 for mine. most of them i wanted between 125-150
