Right! When you are trying to be different and go all out you really have no guideline on what to do, unlike all the proven mild setups. Exactly! Track monster that can still be taken on a weekend cruise around town or the country for enjoyment.

Yes its the cam that Chris Frank spec'ed for it. Honestly I thought it was on the large side even lol I am still use to the dinky little cams we used in the Hemi motors.

I agree 4.56's would be spot on paper, also I will not be locking up the converter so it will use more RPM's going through the traps. The 4.30's were selected/bought when it was going to be 418 LS3 with a huge shot of nitrous, but plans changed. Couldn't bring myself to make a nitrous setup, N/A all the way! If they need to be changed that will be no problem.

For sure, after the dyno I will have a better idea what needs to be tweaked!

O my, I still want to be able to drive this in 100+ degree weather and have fun in it. Don't want to completely make it a track only truck, it has to be somewhat streetable. I do have a crazy tolerance to what it streetable though lol

O my, I still want to be able to drive this in 100+ degree weather and have fun in it. Don't want to completely make it a track only truck, it has to be somewhat streetable. I do have a crazy tolerance to what it streetable though lol

big cams to alot of guys on the net are 228 230 236 lol i run a 25x/26x in a 408, but my lift is only 621, i feel its to small but its setup for what im after, timing events are crucial to a build, everything is printed on my 408 and have been flowed, my stall is a triple disc 4600 from circle D very nice and if tuned properly its very streetable, heck you seen my truck i drive it very where and for long distance, you said it, its what one can tolerate, i used to run 4:88 gears on 29" tires i trapped 132 on a 150 shot of nitrous, at 70 i was at like 2750 rpms, if i remember correctly, maybe 3k , and if you have the right parts in that motor trust me its a nitrous setup lol maybe not for a huge hit but a good 200 easy ;)


dont fear big cams big gears big stalls tuning is the upmost important and all these can be tuned to your liking, quik ( george c ) does my tuning and theres no daily issues besides now having a cage in it :(

put it this way LSX 454 i could do 800+ maybe 900 NA easy to the ground ;) or more im fixing to start building a aluminum motor here shortly

Chris frank is a god a heads thats all i know so im positive its going to fly. How local are you? Maybe have allen tune it at nelson performance. Id say hes ten times more reliable than sam. Sam can tune but you have a full on race build goin on. So more up nekson performance's alley. You dont wanna f up on such an expensive build man. Post pics of the block if its back! The cf heads look killer. That dude seriously does have talent. He's heads are on the fastest turbo mustang in the country.

That is a pretty damn big stick for a 408! Have a dyno graph? I am curious to see your TQ and HP curves. I understand cams better then your avg joe, I design them for some of the Ram guys.

You were telling me that when I met you at the shootout that it was still streetable. May try and get EFI Live or HP Tuners for myself so I can do my own adjustments. That is what I did on my goat with Diablo CMR. I am 100% sure nothing can be worse then a QC Ram with a 4000 stall with nazi Dodge tuning. Yeah Chris Frank was telling me that it should handle a 150 shot all day long even though the rings are setup for N/A

Gas millage is the least of my concern, its smiles per mile!

I have no fear! Is he located in Houston? This is dyno tuning and he will drive it for the street tuning? No matter who tunes it or what program is used I wanna learn it myself so I can fine tune it to my liking. Its going to be so odd to me if I can't do that anymore.

well i have a refresh coming in another year, so figure if im gonna spend the coin to refresh it and i have most of what i need so why not take more weight off the nose of the truck and up the power ? dyno hmm hadnt dynoed it yet, torque curve im sure it peaks at 46-4800 horsepower i'll let the ET's judge that, so far its been the strongest 408 i ran across by far ;)im not gonna get in the mix on tuners BUT you need a good one a damn good one, one whos gonna spend the time and get all the power possible out of it, a mail order nor a dyno tune will be good enough, it'll be in the ball park but thats it, it'll take weeks maybe months and alot of track passes before anyone aces the tune, if you need reccomendations hit me up i'll lead ya in the right direction! oh yeah you going SD tune? i run it without issues, doesnt matter what time of year she'll fire right up and idle smooth and drive perfect without the BS of surging and all the other crap ive gotten from others.

my cam is designed for peak torque and peak horsepower from the flow numbers from the intake heads exhaust, the compression i run a mere 12:1 to the weight of the vechicle, it wasnt just thrown together or picked by someone posting on the net.

by the way what compression are you gonna run? i run 12.0:1 on pump gas on the street ;) but i also use a mix.


just remember what you said quote" just need that setup that all works together"unquote :) an engine designer will know peak torque and peak power not a builder, thus why the heck i hadnt been to a dyno !! software and computer data has came along way, theres virtually programs out there that'll match everything and spit out what it needs as far as cams stalls blah blah blah and be within 1-5% of being exact and well within the numbers !

Could you PM me who you would recommend, I am still green in the GM world. I will have a good datalogging setup also to make it simple for the tuner to make adjustments. None of that camera of a wideband and tach bullshit, let alone the fuel trims etc...

My compression is suppose to be 11.75 but it may be higher, that is being left up the the engine builder. Right, trust me I am on guard for forum BS. Its all over GM, Ford and Mopar performance forums, they are all alike. Except Mopar guys eat their own kind... lol

It will be running 93 pump gas.

I used Dyno 2003 for my Hemi and it was very accurate. Still working on getting it calibrated for LS motors...

No Ken Herring is doing the chassis. You can see him in the mirror of the last pic lol

Its getting a Stange Fab 9", Ladder Bars, and AFCO double adjustable.

Awesome was going with a 4 link but was convinced ladder bars was the way to go for my needs.
