Correct. It's just hard to believe you're ACTUALLY getting 7-10 MPG better than everyone else with the same mods.

Mine gets about 11 overall. It sucks, it's not even fast.
fill your truck...drive 45-50 on a road behind other cars for 200 miles without stopping/hitting brakes. If you don't get atleast 27 mpg, there is something wrong with your truck.
I do log it, every tank if you want to see the excel sheet...it's going on 2 years, filling up about once a week, sometimes more. Miles on trip meter since fill up, divided by gallons of gas to re fill up. I stop filling up everytime when the pump clicks off, so it should be accurate within .25 of a tank or so.
Driving 45mpg our trucks barely use any gas. EVEN NOW with it being lifted, i can average 21-22 if i drive 45 the entire time. I am almost willing to bet my title that very few people on here would actually do a long trip at that slow of a speed to get an accurate rating. If i took the highway back from school going 65-75 I would get about 17mpg non-lifted...if i took backroads (at 2am with no other traffic) and followed 45mph speed limit i'd get about 26-27 with my 3.42 rear, and 245/70/16 or whatever stock is on a 2wd.
I'll vouch for ya shifty, my 99 would get 24-25 going 60 on 265/70/16's and it was a Z71 with a couple hundred pounds of audio and 265lbs of me(given there was very little wind. All I had was k&n drop in and a flowmaster 40, no computers, no logging. Just fill it up, count miles, and fill up again. This was when I was making weekly/bi-weekly runs to dfw. I have no idea how the truck did it, but it did.
It's whatever.. I never called you a liar, just saying hard to believe. I know what my instant reading says at 45 and it's 23 mpg. That's with 3.73s and a z71.
:thanks: :melissa:
You wouldn't believe how much knowledge is sitting up in this highly organized noggin on mine. :tacos:
It might be believable. Was this measured going down to DFW or back up to the WF? I can see that happening on the way down, but on the way back up????
I get about 12 city and 14 high way with my cam and 35's. i dont care how i drive i would never get close to 17 mpg. most people would laugh in my face if i told them i get 17 in a lifted gasser.
My last average was 19.5 with mostly 75MPH highway driving and me taking it pretty easy in town. I recently downsized from 2.5" duals to 2.25" and and went from consistantly getting 18.5-18.7 up to what I'm getting now. Best average since the 5.3l went in was around 21.5
