Worst injury while working on truck/car.

Well lots of bangs, busted knuckles, cuts etc from this trade! A few come to mind though. Doing control arm bushings in a Grand Prix. The bolt was seized in the damn bushing. I beat and beat and beat on it, finally I got mad and took a swing with my 5lb mini sledge. I guess I moved my back the wrong way, or too fast and put my lower back out. I was crippled for 2 days on the couch before I could move.

Another one was not that long ago, checking u-joints on a truck, had the end in the transmission and just set the back on the rear yoke so I could bend down and get a bolt I dropped. The damn thing slipped off and came down and hit me right on the top of the melon! I swear I nearly saw stars. Funny thing is, is that I had a headache before it hit me, and as soon as that happened the headache was gone! Knocked it right out of me. :lol:

I'll probably think of some more.

nothing too bad for me, a bunch of busted knuckles and black fingernails. but i guess the worst i can think of was when i was pop-riveting a body panel on my race car and i already had all the rivets in their holes and when a rivet popped the rivet gun slid and i basically punched a 3/16 inch rivet... there was a nice hole in my finger. good thing was it was one of those things that didnt really hurt or start bleeding for a minute

Didnt happen to me but I was standing about 4' away.

Mechanic at our shop checking on some big semi-truck batteries
we had charging.

Caps were loose to vent and he messed with a clamp making a spark

KA-BOOM
You havent heard loud until you've been standing next to an exploding diesel truck battery.

He got a away with some acid burns to his hands and couple of small
pieces of plastic in his face.

Sister was dating guy back in the day who had that happen too.
They were digging plastic out of his chest and face for years.

Personal note to self. Never mess with big truck batteries.

I had no clue those were dangerous. Shows what I know.

The gasses coming out of any automotive wet cell battery are HIGHLY
explosive.

Careful when jump starting a car, charging a battery or even just unhooking a battery.
Make sure caps are tight.

Not to poop on the story or make fun of Canada but I heard through the grapevine and interesting and slightly related write-up on an RO (we're talking shop here as GM techs).

Tech's comments: "Rotor rusted, had to beat off."

Not sure why a rusted rotor would initiate such a response but.....:ugh2:

Someone wasn't thinking before they made that comment! I've seen other guys make funny ones for the clunking steering shafts when GM wanted us to "excersize" them

Cause: steering shaft dry
Correction: stroked shaft

we had one that read: c/s blinker acts like it is on crack.

a misprint was, c/s vehicle is only getting 100mpg.
