rear cover isnt leaking im pretty sure. I checked for that a few times. I guess when I get a chance ill pull the fill plug and see if there is any fluid in there. That would be hilarious if there wasnt..

if its slinging fluid then thats the pinion seal, if they replaced, they may have tightened down the pinion nut to tight and messed up the crush sleeve, also the pinion nut cant be reused, it needs to be replaced if it was removed, which means it might be backing off and messing up the setting on the gears also.
At this point, the best thing to do is to replace everything and start over and id find a new place to do the gears.
Sorry to hear about you having trouble, setting up the gears is teadeus and time consuming, ive done it so i speak from experience. I hope it works out for you.
This sux dude! I bet they just put the posi in and didn't check the backlash. I've built over 200 gear boxes and the back lash never changes unless something is installed incorrectly. If the stock gears were showing a normal wear pattern they shouldn't make noise unless the gears aren't meshed (Contact) correctly. I'd have them show you the wear pattern with the proper pinion depth after the backlash is set with the proper clearance .007" to .010" before they put the cover on. There is no reason for gears to whine or make noise if installed correctly and the proper lube and GM posi additive. Sorry to keep going off................Hang in there!
so I mean what should i do? This place is like an hour away and i dont have time to drive back down there.. This previous time they had the truck they installed a brand new ring and pinion bc they burnt up the old one..
I'd talk with another shop close to you and see if they might be able to get some of your money back. I've seen it before but it can be a pain.
well I called austin drivetrain and they wont be able to get me in until next week. bluhh I needed my truck to take to houston this weekend. Will it hurt the differential just doing some daily driving at all? Or what will it mess up?
I wouldn't drive it but no one can predict what could happen. You don't know what you don't know..........................:wtf:
Hey ducky if you cant get ur SH!T fixed let me know i will see if me and my cousin could meet up with you and take a look at ur truck. Sorry to hear about your problems DUDE....
I have an appointment tomorrow at austin drivetrain. Im just gonna shell out some money to have it done right this time.... I hope
did they change the shims when they put in the new carrier or just reuse the ones that were in there? that would be the wrong way to do it. i paid 200 or 300 to have my gears and posi installed here in houston. zero noise with my genuine gears
