lol.. so what the hell is he trying to say?
I'm not sure what he was trying to say. What most people call a "posi" is actually a limited slip differential with some type of clutch pack or locking mechanism that tie the two axles together temporarily. There is a "spool" which will lock both axles together permanently but they are hell on tire wear with street driven/daily driven vehicles(excellant/a must for full-on drag race vehicles). The LSD diff will allow one tire to spin faster than the other during cornering. Clutch type diffs will wear out eventually, how many miles will it take depends on how many turns you make and if you keep the correct lube in the diff. My Auburn in my 92 truck had over 150k on it and was still working perfectly when it was stolen.
did i get the same lsd as you red? lol
I don't have the pro diff. Mine is just their regular diff. I see that I can install a pro diff from a newer truck into mine with different bearing. I would have gone that way if I would have caught that in the catalog. :whack:
lol i hope im happy with my choice...
Believe me, you'll love it! You'll be kicking yourself for not doing it earlier.
I have never heard anyone complain about a diff other than the ones that replace the spider gears in the factory carrier.
believe him lol ^^^^^^^ i got one the pro series and i love it !!!!
bad ass... so were did you get your gears red? did you order them through 4wp? and also who should i have flash my ecu?
Yeah, gears came from 4Wheelparts. They have a 20% off sale going on right now. 20% off one item. Tell them you got the email and would like your discount. $500 diff would cost you $400. Excellant deal!
Ok, I thought that an LSD turned the right rear---or left depending on which side is the driving wheel---at a ratio higher than the other. Like I posted before, I was aware that it was like a 2.7:1 ratio of one spinning faster than the other... And I guess that I have been retarded for years...I thought a posi was posi all of the time? But the spool is what locks them until the clutch pack (in an Auburn or Eaton) or gear set (Detroit) releases them? I've had two trucks with posi rears and they always squealed the inside rear tire when I turned...I just thought it was constantly locked... Oh well, we all learn something new each day...
