yep, that's the way it works. :thumb: Nelson Peformance sells them for $50 or so and you can have them throw a tune in it at the same time. Get VATS/Passkey disabled while he's tuning it.

then i reckon the OP needs to be changed...
anyway, i guess i'll have to talk to my tuner tomorrow - he's already tuned my last engine & does free updates as well, so i'd rather not have to pay for another tune because i'm already spending borrowed money... :(
yep. black box with 4 connectors. 99 was a real bastard year for these trucks...
i reckon i gotta find a mounting box, too because the old one won't hold a 411 - i already tried last month
Mine was $50 bucks, easy to find
I wonder if your truck was a Mexican import. A lot of the left over junk get put into the ones they intend to stay in Mexico. You also may just have one of the very first NBS V6 trucks imported into the US that they put the old leftovers into.
Ummm....was it a V6? Then it had the 4-connector PCM like all the rest of the 1999's I rememeber.
mexican??... really?? :) actually - i do remember seeing something about some 99 NBSs getting Vortec 5.7s down there. i actually considered doing that swap myself, but i'd've had to find a 99 or 00 OBS to pull it out of.
actually, my truck is definitely American & was was built in the last half of the 99 run - february actually. i know it's American from the VIN. 1GTEK14W2XZxxxxxx
1=made in the USA, Z=assembled in Fremont, CA
yeppers... that's why it's in this thread :)
ps - that's the W in the VIN... but of course you know that
Yeah but I didn't take the time to read the other seven pages over again.
just a little tidbit of info...
found out today that (at least for 01 model 4.8/5.3) the 4l60 flexplate bolts & nv3500 flywheel bolts are, in fact, the same. they're also $3.xx each if you're unfortunate enough to have to buy new ones
I have a 2008 Silverado regular cab short bed 4x2 3.23 rear gear with v6 auto I want to swap to a v8 my 08 is apparently different from the earlier models no one can reprogram the ecm/tcm no cai nothing for it. Even though it runs smooth it lacks power what year ls motor should I look for I want to keep my cruise and a/c my truck came with an electric fan are there wiring provisions for it to be run by the stock ecm/tcm thanks for any/all help
Go to a junkyard and get a wiring harness and mounts front drive accesories, any of the motors will work as long as its a 58 tooth reluctor wheel
Or just put a nitrous kit on it and run it with a 50-100 shot until the engine craps the bed, then put the V8 in it. You're not going to get squat for it when you sell it most likely so you might as well have some fun with it while its in there.
I may be moving soon I live in Florida now and I may be going to Wichita Kansas. So I don't want to blow it up just yet, the motor has 4K on it I have a miser car I drive back and forth to work. I see you are from Denton I grew up in Lewisville "Home of the Fighting Farmers" :dancenana:
Robert
DON'T DO IT! Wichita KS is my version of the armpit of America. I lived there for 6 months and as soon as my contract at my apartment was up I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
It would be a promotion going to Wichita and it's closer to home than Florida
need some help...
so the guys who pulled my motor managed to break off the nipple on the back of the intake manifold that connects to the brake booster vacuum line. i went to the parts counter today to see if i could get one & they said they thought it was a molded part of the intake. is this true? can i just get that nipple somewhere or am i gonna have to take this whole manifold off & swap it out?
i believe it is molded to the intake
Let us know when you get to wichita. There are a few of us located there.
I am pretty sure it's removable because I was able to buy it individually and install it. But if you could get a picture, or go check it out that would be good.
I can try to find out Monday if you remind me.
The nipple can be replaced. :thumb:
Thought so but no one reminded me to check .
i was gonna get a pic today, but it's really nasty out & will be all week :( no progress for me, for now anyway
anyone run a xr265hr-14 cam? thinking bout throwin that cam in along with ls6 springs. if i do the motor swap in the next few months.
Dang. I know I got it somewhere.

They probably couldn't find it because it's not in the intake picture, it's in the booster picture.
to remove it you have to push the nipple all the way back and then the little collar around the nipple, push it to towards the intake and then pull the nipple out.
No, they are not the same number. I saw the listing for the L35 and it's different than LM7, LQ4, etc.....I think.
so yeah... the guy that told me that must've been smoking crack!
sure enough, i got there today & look what i found

so i called a different dealer & he confirmed they are different :smash:
good thing it's only $6
hope this helps. I have the part number somewhere because I saved all the baggies for my swap, but I don't know where I put it. Here is the pinout from GM I found. It is the number 4 part on there. The part number is not listed, but I am sure you can save this image to your computer, print it out, and take it to the dealer.

thanks, but i ordered it yesterday. told him it was on the brake booster page & he found it pretty quick.
Yeah #4 is the exact part number I posted a day or two ago when I said it was in the booster pic, not the intake pic.
Missed that, figured a picture might help.
