Did you already drain the pan?
Lazy Heffer
bypassing the heat exchanger in the rad does work well for a drag vehicle or play toy. since it stays cool and isnt run very long. going thru the heat exchanger keeps it warm cause of heatfrom coolant.
if you daily drive the truck with the heat exchanger bypassed then it will cause issues since at idle there is nothign cooling it off so temps rise and keep rising in traffic. I had bypassed my heat exchanger and used a fan on my transcooler to help cool it and this did work very well. i used a Temp probe to turn on the fan at 160*
using the heat exchanger allows you to have trans fluid be cooled some when at idle cause of the fluid going thru the rad.
so depending on your situation bypassing or going thru might work or not work for your particular needs
Tomorrow if that works for you. Vowed to spend the evening with my wifey. I plan on skipping the wedding too, so I can cart it up to Greg's Saturday morning if need be (if I can use the Tahoe). Unless you want to go to that would be cool.
And the pan is drained monkey.
Was thinking of mounting engine back closer to firewall... after hearing this.... nah, it'll stay in the same position. LOL
OK, whoever is coming, I'll be getting to Greg's at 9:00.
Now I need an address PM from Greg. Not sure how the morning's gonna be for me but I'd like to help if possible.
Am I missing anything? Greg you said you had a filter for a deeper pan?
This is what I've got:

Looks like you have everything. The filter I have here is for a shallow pan. It looks like the one you have there, too. I think they sent you one for the shallow pan. I think the deep pan, 3" deep, has a metal bottom on it. It appears the one you have has the plastic bottom.
Yeah mine is for a normal pan. You said O'Reilly has them?
yeah, pioneer PN 745174 $16.99
So are you guys still doing the rebuild saturday or has that changed?
yessir - Saturday at 9.
What is the address to gregs? If i can get freed up.
Behind James Wood.
Maybe he wants to learn...?
He's welcome to come. I want to learn, too. Gonna teach me, Nathan? I need some private lessons. :luv: wink wink
ew.
I need directions Greg. To your house. Nothing more.
We will see the main reason i would make it is to see how my new truck is on the highway and test gas milage. And to see a tranny rebuild would be nice. But 3 hours there and back may change my mind. Who all is going to be there.
looks like me, virgil, moze, nathan and then who knows from there.
WTF Greg?
:barf: :puke:
OK, trans it out, converter is out and upside down draining.
Greg/Nathan - should I bring the converter? I assume we would want to flush it somehow?
Anything else I need to do/bring?
Okay it looks like i will make it down. Plus then someone can tune my new truck:hyper2::hyper2:
I'm sure you and Virgil can get the TC stabbed deep enough as to not break the pump upon reinstallation....LOL. Not sure about anything else Moze. Greg's the boss on this one. I have some spare parts and some tools just in case.
well guys i ended up having to work so i cant make it.
Sorry, we noticed. Wish I coulda met ya....
Things went well for the most part.
I'll expell the greatness of TRANSMISSION EXCLUSIVE (940)-627-7855 (if it's allowed) as they helped a lot with a goofy part (reverse input housing clutch return spring retainer) on Saturday. There are more details about the exchange but y'all will have to wait.
I'll let Mozey tell the rest.
I had fun.
Finished the trans at 6:00. Odd things broken and messed up but fixed them. Only future issue could be the 2-4 servos. Hopefully Moze put them back together correctly. The way this setup was assembled was very foreign/odd looking to me. Moze and Virgil are having an assembly party tomorrow, putting the rebuilt unit back in the truck.
Can't wait. Wish I knew what you meant but it's been a few hours since I left and been a few more other things too....
Why didn't "we" put the 2-4 pistons back in like they came out?
LOL
they were nasty and sticking, had all kinds of nastiness from the burned up clutchs and stuff in them. Also had to polish the pin to remove the scratches on them.
Oh...so THAT's why the pin was ummm, well, you know.....
you mean hung like John Holmes?
He's the X-rated ....wait. Nevermind. Thinking of a Beastie Boys lyric.....
First of all a huge thanks to Virgil for the ride and getting that one bolt started (), Nathan for making the trip, bringing some extra parts and tools that came in very handy, and helping with the rebuild, and Greg for the use of your place, your time, and...what else did you do? :duh: Oh yeah, doing the rebuild!
All in all things went fairly well. A little worried about the servo but Casey said it looked right, so here's hoping. Virgil and I are going to start around noon today getting everything buttoned back up so hopefully I have a running vehicle by this evening.
Thanks again guys. :melissa:
Good luck...
