you can put the stock valves on a 4.8, 5.3 but you will have to mill the heads .050 and then mill the intake side of the the heads to match your intake manifold, if you plan on using larger valves then no they wont work, just ask me how i know this lol (have some 2.02 1.57 ls1 heads) sitting on the living room floor collecting dust lol
If it was me i would keep the stock heads and have them milled .020 and use 7.35 push rods and run 2.02 1.57 valves in it.

know from doing mine and others that slapping some LS1 heads on a 5.3L will pick up a good amount of power. Yes, you loose some compression, but you will still gain power. For some of us its hard to come up with the money to start milling heads and throwing in bigger valves. What does that run $500+? Its a lot easier to spend $150 on a good used set of LS1 heads. :thumb:
Not trying to step on anybody's toe's , but some of us are poor and trying to get the most for are money. (which ain't much)

yeah switching to LS1 heads is on my list, I will upgrade the pushrods at that time, but they are going on completely stock. I dont have the money to spend on expensive head sets or getting them ported, etc.
