Offset rockers FTL.
That sucks... time to build it stronger. Alot of stock ring gaps are .011 to .013 on the top ring. Doesn't take much heat to make it touch
I did the same thing with my 5.3.. Broke a spring and titanium retainer
the carnage continues as i remove passengers side head...
i dont think there was this ring gap fail etc...it was the prong from the spark plug that broke off and mest up everything.check it out.
now what would cause that plug prong to break?too much heat?wrong gap?
im going to fix myself but need to prevent this from happening again.

Carnage from the other broken hole got transferred to that side of the motor through the intake. Had nothing to do with the electrode on the spark plug.. That hole was a innocent bistandard.
damm u think so...another thing that sucks i just inspected the turbo and the exhaust side some blades are roughed up on the edges..damm f/i world is putting me to the test.
Can you take pics of the other three pistons on that side of the motor. I take it you never did any WOT pulls with fresh plugs to check and see how even intake distribution was by reading the plugs? The tops of the pistons will show if any holes are burning rich/leaner than the others.
From the pic above it looks like #2 is burning way hotter than #4 since alot of the carbon is being burned off the piston. I'm really curious how distribution is on this holley intake.
no i didnt do a plug test like that i dont know if Allen and Ray did not sure but heres a pic
