Go bigger on the verter. 2800 at least. You will regret getting the smaller one later.

geez 2800? how bad will that affect driving around town?
In town is the only time you'll notice it. I've driven a truck with 2800, 3400, and 4000. The 4000 was rough in town but the 2800 was VERY manageable. The worst that can happen is you can blow the tires off and lose 1.5 mpg or so.
Ok. sounds good.
I started hacking into the wiring harness tonight, made some progress. Gotta build the relay and fuse block still.
I'm using the info at LT1-swap.com
Man, wiring sucks
I'm trying to figure out If I need to add a VSS signal wire from the VSS on my 241 to the PCM.
I'm not sure how the computer gets VSS data with a 4L80/6.0 harness. I've looked at my LQ4/4L80 harness and the only two VSS plugs I can find are the ones that go into the driver's side of the trans housing. That part makes sense. Since there is not an extra plug further downstream, either one of two things are going on...
1= the 0411 with the 6.0 and LQ4 (4x4 truck) uses 4L80 data to compute MPH...not sure that is plausible, since axle gear changes would be unknown to the trans/computer
2= this harness is from a two wheel drive vehicle
--well, how do two wheel drive vehicles get VSS data then... curious.
OK...I was looking at the pinout diagrams and it seems that C2 Red #16 is the wire to feed the PCM with VSS data.

So it seems that I can just wire the 241 VSS into the LQ4/80 harness.
I guess I'm just running this by you guys because I think that the explanation is that I have a two wheel drive harness.
Do you guys' alternators pulley sit about 1/4 inch back from the power steering pulley? Mine does and I'm not sure why.
Common sense would dictate that they would be aligned when you look at ALL the pulleys...
would anybody happen to know the fitting size of these lines?
thanks!

I'm just gonna wire that VSS into that pin. screw it. it will work
i dont know the size but if you cant find it, i would just cut the end off and put an AN to tube adapter, they work good. heres a link to one. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-2200075/
Looked at some wiring diagrams today, figured out that the purple wire on the 4 pin connector on the driver's side 700R4 is the wire I need to feed the 0411 for the brake pedal switch.
12v supplied when your foot is off the pedal, nothing when you press the pedal.
well it turns out I over-sweated the VSS thing.
things to buy
schoenfeld headers
driveshafts

on a side note, I bought my old man an '04 1500HD cluster for his '03 1500 Z71 and it worked fine...knew it would, but; I'm wondering where the NBS gets the trans temp data from. On my 91, I had to pull the plug on the case (700r4) and put the 1/8 NPT temp fitting in. Does anybody know where the NBS's get their trans temp signal from (location)?
It might have been a 1/4 NPT fitting on my 700R4. Yah, I think it was a 1/4
