Well after some reading it looks like i'll be needing one of these for the swap
58x to 24x converter
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering: Lingenfelter TRG-001 58x To 24x Crank Sensor Trigger or Reluctor Wheel Conversion Module
also im pretty sure i am just going to fab one of these up, but IDK plug and play seems pretty nice.
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering: GM LS1 Knock Sensor & Cam Sensor Adapter Harness - Allows Easy Upgrade to LS2, LS7 Engine
and since i have a cam already i am going to be looking for a LS2 or LS3 timming gear and front cover ( I think either will work still looking into this one )
Even though its probably a low mile motor, and the bearings look decent, since it is all apart i am going to replace them. I figure if i dont it will be my luck the thing will spin one, so ill just go ahead and do it now.
I did also score a 4l80e this weekend, traded it for a 5.3 shortblock i had, thanks gavin lol, so hopefully this week ill be picking that up and seeing what i am going to need for that project.
Man tax return cant get here soon enough!!
being that the crank is out just swap the 58x to the 24x imo itd save you on that converter..then just buy that adapter harness.
the LS2 cover will work on that motor.
youll have to use your old knock sensors an put them where the gen IV knock sensors are. check my thread out an youll see what im talking about.
yea, my problem is the only machine shop here in town, that i know of, is pretty old school i dont know if they will be able to/ willing to do a reluctor wheel swap...so im kinda thinking worst case senario here lol
Contact Goodson and see if they'll rent you a locating tool.
Now you just need to find me an 80e.....lol
