Raising bumpers 1 inch won't be that hard. Plus the steering shaft will have more than enough play and strength. E-Brake cable should be ok as well as the cab grounds. If not just lengthen those. Then if mechanical fan, just shave off the bottom of the shroud or use some metal from Lowes/HomeDepot and make some drop brackets.

And I would NOT consider it ''Ghetto'' lol, might do it myself to get the 38's under. Plus I might scrap the leaf spring front end and go 4-link now. And i haven't even driven it as is yet!!!

lol ill see about picking some up but i finally broke down and picked up a 3 inch body lift from summit last night. hopefully it gets here soon. im ppicking her up from the tranny shop today but driving her straight to all pro for some fresh 4.56 :chevy:

4.56's and 35's are cherry!!

But, if you think you might go 36's or 37's with the bodylift room, go 4.88's

I would take torque over MPG any day. Then again, my truck hasn't gone 1 mile in over 7 months. :lol: And yes your dash is gonna light up until you get the computer reprogramed, but theres nothing to worry about.

And probably won't move for another 5-6. Watch as soon as i get it done, my tranny is gonna go. I just have that feeling.

i prolly wont. this all started as just a 4 inch lift and keeping the 32's i had haha. now im almost to a 10 inch total lift and 35s with new gearing so i think ill stick with that but who knows. and i hear you about the tranny. the 4l60e tranny is such a pos. im seriously thinking about doing a lq9 swap with a 4l80 just to get a better tranny. plus those 6.0's sound sexy as hell

With 10 i nches of lift 37's are in your future. I'd vote you go 4.88's for sure, they put you on the torque side and they are only like a 150 or so RPM diference between the 4.56's.

is it really that little of a difference? if so id def like to be on the torqy side. lol shes going under the knife monday so i better decide fast lol. this pic is from last year. but shes been the same since then haha

im running 4.56's with 37's and have no problems with torque

Yeah, it's not a huge jump and well worth it if you plan on going with bigger tires later down the road. You can use an online gear calc to figure out what your RPM's would be at any given speed.

For example:

35 inch tires with 4.56's running 70 MPH puts you at 2154.024 RPM's, those same tires with a 4.88 gear set will step up a bit to 2295.551 RPM's, a 141 RPM difference.

The calculator I used is here, it's the one that says Find RPM: Gear Calculator

And for the 4L60E it is a .7 transmission ratio. You can input different tire diameters/gear sets and get an idea of where you'd be....

it's not ALL based off rpm. Steeper gear makes it easier to move vehicle, but raises rpm, so you have to find a happy medium. They say for bigger tires (above 34's) you want to find the gear ratio that matches factory tires/gears, and then go up 1 or 2 sizes to compensate for weight of tires/extra friction/etc.

So even if the RPMs are 150 higher at 70, motor is doing less work, so it's POSSIBLE you'll get better gas mileage/lower trans temps/etc.
