OK george... A 408 with l92 heads doesn't make as much as a 383 with l92 heads? Why would that be? they both are essentially the same motor minus the bore and stroke. So what your telling us is that bigger cube lsx's are a waist of money? And as for the 454bb I was referring to the ss truck version... the one that would apply to us.
And as for your motor vs Parish's... you have an 88mm turbo right? didnt parish have a 76mm? Same psi doesn't = same airflow... you know that. Plus he made over 1000wheel tq and made it into the 10's with an auto. Your numbers were with a standard. On 14psi he made 637/716... what did you make? 699/555 at 16psi you gave up over 160wheel tq.
And as for the head/cam motor combo thing, It has been verified that a 5.7 with an asa cam puts down 380-400whp and a 4.8 with the same cam only makes about 315-325whp. Now this is with stock heads. With higher compression heads, you might see another 15whp... But thats not were the smaller motors lack, its all in the tq. 100tq is the difference. 100tq is a lot for .9 cubic inches.
And lastly the spell checker is free, its right above the smilies to the right. Peace brother... :melissa:
the 408 i spoke of parish had his pt88 on it. its the video on youtube of the dyno. as for auto and manual the percentage is there so equal power
i knew you were referring to the SS 454 and i said its nothing compared to the other ones which a 454 ls6 is stronger
the 383 and 408 with L92s. the results were better for the 383 cause the heads dont perform worth a damm with a 4" stroke and before you say 383s are 4" stroke. theres more then one way to achieve a 383....all bore is the way in this reference
never said cubes are a waste but saying same parts and the parts specific for one motor wont result in drastic results for other.
the H/C package for a 346 wont be ideal on a 408. a H/C package on a 408 wont be ideal on a 454 LSX
take alook at the dyno section on tech. see how many 408s lay down less then 500rwhp, then see how many 346s are making over 500rwhp. then look at the RWTQ between the two. you can spend 40hrs seeing all the comparisons.
as for your reference to the ASA. it was designed for the 346 not a 293. it wasnt ideal for a 293. same as heads. take alook at the summit book for reference and see the new TFS heads. they now have heads for the 4.8/5.3 then they have heads for the 5.7 and 6.3 then of course the 6.0/6.7 then the 427 class.
bigger cubes require bigger parts
so to sum this up the 5.3 the OP is speaking about given X cam and X heads can produce the same power as the 6.0 in question. [torque will be different] Chose the right Cam/ heads for the 6.0 and of course it will make more power then the 5.3
:debates next pissing match topic title:
:D
Thanks for the info guys. Gives me something to think about.
