That's cool your from racine, I live by janesville...the LQ9 can be from the silv. ss, the escalade and the denali. The tbss is an LS2 6.0, but those will also give you some power. bagged93gmc has one in a truck like yours but in red, and it flys!

Almost all Denalis have the LQ4. Look for an N code VIN for LQ9, U is LQ4 if the engine has not been swapped.
What is the difference between the two engines? both being 6.0's
Half a point roughly in compression and some of the older ones have better rods. OEM rating 20 HP more. The cam is ever so slightly different.
well i am gonna cam it fairly quickly, so is the lq9 motor worth an extra 800-1000 dollars?
Not IMO just depends on a lot of specifics.
