on my 96 the shop that put my clutch in forgot oil. it lasted a month. then blew out every gear but 4th. so I drove it til it died and when it did I was parking in front of my apartment and the rearend locked up and I slid into place. I'm also looking at maybe a NV5600 but I'm getting the 3500 for only $725. fully rebuilt. hard to pass up.

My 4-cylinder 98 S-10 had an NVG3500 in it.... wouldn't use one behind a V6....especially for $700!
