As far as starting off they arent that far apart. But by the time you rework the heads which you were going to do anyway and put a cam in the 6.0 you would be WAY ahead of the 5.3. Keep in mind if you arent doing the head work yourself it will cost more to get the 317s shaved down the match the 5.3 cr. And if you do that you wouldnt want to put them back on the 6.0. You could rework those heads put in a good tr224 or something along those lines and do full bolt ons and probably get close to 360 on the ground or maybe a bit more.
If you just want the heads and not the rest of the motor how much would you sell the short block for. All I want is the block and harness ecm. you can keep the rest. Ill buy some heads for it and I already got a tbss intake. *If as far into my 5.3 as I am if Id buy a short block to build up just to swap into my truck should tell you something about how wise it would be to save your money and skip to the 6.0 now*
No problem man. I just wish I could go back and do it all again. I would already have a 6.0 in my truck. I dont want you making the same mistakes I did!

The 6L has more potential than the 5.3 but the 5.3 is a strong engine, also.
Yeah your best bet to get to 400 to the ground is gonna be a 6.0. Its extremely hard to get there on a 5.3 with no power adder...
