Those cats and longtubes look badass...thatd be cool if we worked something I'd be willing to give you some money to use them. I looked up the headers on that website, would there be any difference other than looks with the ceramic coated and the painted ones? Money's kinda tight right now so I was leaning towards the painted ones.
as far as i know there is no difference, they are really nice in quality. the only reason i went with the coated ones is because i drive in the salt, the winters here are harsh.
And the only reason i got the cats is because i need to be legal in WI for emmissions just a visual inspection, and once every 3 years i have to get it on the dyno lookin thing they have and pass it there as well.
Ya no problem on the tools thing, i just picked up the adapter for the aircompressor to hold the valves up for a whole 8 bucks.
And i have a garage to use for 3 days so i think its going to turn out pretty good, just have to call allen and get a tune, and waiting for Thunder Racing to get the patriot golds in tomorrow and that package will also be on its way.
And the timing chain should be here by thursday i believe. Im gonna take tons of pictures.
Im gonna spend friday afternoon draining the coolant and getting everything ready, and do the exhaust and then saturday hammer away with the cam swap, and then sunday break it in and beat it up.
are you doing single 3" on the exhaust?
for a little while i am, i just bought that flowmaster muffler like 3 months ago, its a 3" in to two dual 2.5" outs, but eventually sometime in october or so ill go with true duals. for now it should flow fine, it will be interesting to drive the truck in the snow, and the rain for that matter. when it shifts now and im barely into it lately its been squeakin the tires, and spinnin out in the rain, its fun.
Get 3 gallons of pre-mix antifreeze to be safe. May only need two, but better to have more than enough and return it later than not enough and have to leave in the middle of everything...
ya no reason not to be prepared...what type of RTV am i going to need, and is red locktite going to be ok? or should i use blue?
also im thinkin a set of jackstands to move the front end up a little is going to be helpful.
im going to get the crank bolts tonight. and the coolant and oil and other regular supplies on friday next week.
Any regular pulley puller will work right?
what about any type of lube for putting in the new injectors?
i plan on leaving the intake manifold on during the swap if i can.

And you're just getting one crank bolt - right?
You'll need a harmonic balancer puller...rent it at an auto parts store.
You can use dialectic grease but not sure if it's required for the injectors.
No need to mess with the intake manifold.

Any advice on welding the cats to the headers? i was going to clamp them on but welding them on looks and will make me feel better, but the ceramic coating is on the headers, am i going to have to sand it down or rough it up to weld to them?

hmmm well, i will figure it out when the time comes, if i have to run straight headers for a week, TOO BAD FOR EVERYONE ELSE THAT LIVES NEXT TO ME!!!
Just called NelsonPerformance and had the tune ordered, Mr Wheatley is no where to be found,:bsflag: so if he does ever get back to me im going to order a retune for pop's truck and sell it to him so i can get some cash back.

has anyone changed thier timing chain at all? is it super hard to unbolt the oil pan the little ways i need to?
And i know this may sound stupid, but when putting the RTV on the bottom of the timing cover, do you let it dry first or put it back on semi-wet.
