Good news man! Is there any rust? Since you are doing the 5.3L, then the 4L60e might be the better choice for the tranny. How quickly are you going to be building on it?

It does have some rust on the driver rocker, driver floor board, and the right inner fender well. Nothing that can't be easily fixed. I am wanting to get it going ASAP, just don't have the $800 for a used tranny at the moment, so i may put my 700r4 behind the 283 already in it so i can at least drive it. :)
