ok and is the 2006 6.0 a cluth driven fan or do they have electric fans
Electric fans...
2006 van has a manual fan, 2008, also. :grr:
ok cause this salvage yard im getting my engine from tried to give me one that had a clutch driven fan on it..i said dont they have electric fans and then he was like o we must have brough the wrong engine. ya bs he was just trying to rip me off. and do i need to swap my flywheel
FWIW, the van engines still have a waterpump driven fan all the way up in 2008 and further i am sure. I know for a fact the 2008 model van has the WP driven fan. :twocents:
2500's still have mechanical fans too
Wow some good info here!!
I have a 2001 1500 4.3 auto 134k miles.
The engine is getting tired and I flat tow my CJ7 and I would like a bit more power on the hills.
Just a short recap: 4.3 to a 2001-2006 5.3 swap
I can keep the transmission (Just got rebuilt a few months ago)?
My 4.3 PCM reflashed for the 5.3? Better if I can get the ORG PCM for the 5.3 being purchased?
I can use the org engine mounts?
New fan shroud
New hard fuel lines? (frame to engine)
Keep org alternator?
Missing anything?
Thanks,
Carnell
p.s I found a 5.3 (with pcm) for $675 out of a 2001 Tahoe. Not sure how many miles but I have time to do a mild rebuild if needed.
I can't spend anymore then 1k for a engine. Is that reasonable?
