New track time... Should it be the time I should expect?

12's on motor with the 5.3 ain't gonna happen without slicks...period.

Even then, its gonna be close. If you run 12's on motor, you really have your shit together with a 5.3. You prolly have the gears and converter to get really close with the tr224. But again, its gonna take sticky tire. Your truck may run mid 12's now if you had a sticky tire. What was your 60' time with the 20s?

My truck isn't as good looking as yours haha. She's a diamond in the rough ;) and my 60' was 2.025 with a slow .781 r/t haha. I don't use the nitrous till I get goin about 30. That was on 20's

Throw some slicks on there and spray it out of the hole and hang on!

You'll want your own slicks eventually. That, or DRs. Either one. But borrowing peoples all the time gets old. If you're going to end up getting your own, might as well wait and not grind the calipers. A time slip is a time slip... That's all it is. It doesn't matter if you get it today, next week, or ten years from now. All it proves is that in a certain place, at a certain time, someone went that fast. It doesn't mean a damn thing when someone calls you out in a parking lot.

Lol. Did you go that night Parker? My best time was a 13.4 :( but no nitrous that night, I melted the switch on my bottle heater. And I couldn't catch traction at all on the 20's. If I can figure out how to do it I'll post a pic of the timeslip.

No, sorry about that. We ended up going to the track in Lawton instead. 13.4 is pretty good on street tires with no bottle.

Yeah. I would like to. But 5 tenths is a lot. And that was at best. 12.9 is on bottle. I would like to get there on motor. I'm thinking of putting some long tubes on and electric fans and doing some weight reduction and see where that gets me

Wow those are some crazy times with a somewhat mismatched combo and street tires. I know alot of 5.3s on slicks that run around those times. The truck is coming up top big time.

LOL, that's a funny question. Your times just go to show that your truck is somewhat "dialed in" on the setup it has. I'm guessing the exhaust bias on the cam helps make up for the power the manifolds are holding back(well, that's my theory, lol). All you have to do is work on your 60' and 12's are in the bag. :thumb:

The 60' time isn't real accurate to figure off of. I say this because an 11 sec truck may suck out of the hole and cut a 1.9 or 2.0 but pick up big time around the 330' or 1/8th and finish out amazing. I guess if it helps most guys running 12's are 1.8's to low 1.9's, not doubting your times at all, but I have a similar setup and I've managed a best of 14.7 on 28" slicks? That was on a N/A tune from nelson through the mail. Granted I had 3:73's at the time, but I can footbrake it up to 2800ish on the line and I cut 2.0x 60' all day. I also have LT's over your shorties and caltrac's...just curious what my trucks deal is and why it needs to grow up. Track conditions that day were 2mph winds from the back and about 80*.

Your 2.0 60' is far from stellar, but about right for that converter. I see you have a cam. A cam and converter should definitely put you alot lower than mid 14's. The only way a truck will run 11's with a 1.9 is either lots of cubes, a fair amount of nitrous or turbo, blower, etc etc... So yeah, a 60' time is a pretty accurate way to figure what your times coulda, shoulda, woulda been

Sometimes 60fts are hard to judge 1/4 off of. Iv went 12.6s quite a few times with 2.2 60fts on motor only. Not the trucks fault. It still had 3.23s out back and not enough converter.

I understand that it's not even clsoe to a great time, just saying I also have the hotcam, I was on slicks, and have LT's over his shorties so we have a lot of the same parts....I realize I'm 400 rpm less with converter, but how is over he making over a second on mine in the 1/4? Just wondering waht's wrong with my setup that's all. My comment about the 60' times was for running 12's, a 1.8-1.9 is usually a 60' for a 12 sec run...I meant don't judge your 1/4 mile time solely on that though because I've watched 11 sec and lower cars turn almost 2 sec. 60' times, but pick up huge on topend.

Mike, how much of your 4wd stuff have you removed? Still running t-bars? Stuff like that is heavy and really slows you down. And with the Hot cam, i'm sure his live tune is much better than your mail-order tune.

06blacksierra, I would make a goal of 1.8X for your 60', and go from there.

I totally understand what you're saying. But those cars you speak of make a lot more power than a stock 5.3 with a cam. I'm guessing his truck makes, at the most 320rwhp with that cam. If those times are actually on motor, then that truck is just flat out making some power

It is on motor lol. Maybe mike is at a different elevation? My truck is no hot rod that's for sure. I'm just trying to get into the 12s. Would a 1.8 60' be obtainable with slicks?
