I'd do an 80e first before anything, or a T-56 but hey that's just me.
if youre not making in the 600+ range a 60/65 is plenty
but can you beef up a 4l60 without pulling it out? I havent the slightest idea about installing a shift kit either
Anyone know if i can use stock locks and retainers with the silver comp 918 springs?
Mine came with titanium retainers but i cant get the stock locks to slide down in them like the retainers are smaller.

you can run stock locks for sure, and prolly stock retainers too.
i ran tooled retainers with stock locks, the motors back together already with new gaskets and bolts

shes in and running, like crap though, tune didn't show up saturday maybe it will come tommorrow.
Well i made that last post as i was firing it up, But since then ive been at a stand still, haven't even put a mile on it, On first startup i got this noise here, thought maybe it was running so rough on the stock 4.8 pcm that the tune may make it go away or it may be piston slap and would go away with operating temp, well tune came and noise didn't go away, so now i dont what the heck to do, im stuck with no clue. have a obviously damaged ls1 and a stock 4.8 and no daily driver.

may have to turn your volumes way up, ive heard it could be a lifter, a rod bearing. Its a slight tapping noise, no squealing or ticking or chirping. at times you can hear it all around the motor, then some times only on the bottom. Id hate to replace the rod bearings then it come back to haunt me.

lyons at the shop i used, guess im getting it towed to claxton to have someone check it out because i dont have time, id have to take off work.
What happened to the LS1? Did you do a full re-build? Hope you get it sorted out.
had a second opinion check it out. Needs a rod bearing which will lead to a crank and connecting rod. I dont have time for a rebuild right now. Gonna try to snag a cheap 5.3 throw the cam in and go with it.
