Haha, yea I bet.
Good news and bad news.
Bad News: My grandfather passed away this morning at the young age of 84. Would have been 85 in January. He was in a lot of pain from having lungs that barely functioned so I'm just glad that he's not suffering anymore. I was able to fly up to WI to see him one last time this last weekend so I am grateful for that. He perked right up when I showed up because he always loved to talk about cars and the good old days with grandma (she passed away 4 years ago) and how lucky he was to have been with her all those years. After I left, his condition severely worsened and last night they knew he wasn't going to make it another full day.
Good news: I'm doing a one way flight to WI and Monday after the funeral I'm driving my truck back. Let the planning begin...
Sorry to hear about losing your Grandfather. At least his pain is over and he can be with his love.
Congrats on getting the truck back home with you. Drive careful on your way home.
Thanks for the story. Even the bad part had many good qualities with the way you told it.
When we get to SAR Trav, I'm bringing the old lady. I hope our room is RIGHT next to yours. I'm going to put her head through the wall showing you who ISN'T gay. Be careful though, Brad wore girls jeans last year and Tyler got caught looking at my tubesteak.
Thanks. It hasn't quite hit me yet. I'm not sure if it's because I'm 2000 miles away or if because we knew this was coming for a long time and I'm glad that his suffering is over.
I've made the drive several times (around 1900+ miles one-way) so I know what I'm in for. It seems to go by quicker each time I do the trip.
Thanks, I was just glad to be able to see him one last time. My only regret is never bringing a recorder with to record his stories. It seemed I was the only one he liked telling these stories to so I'll have to hold onto them although I doubt I'll ever forget them.
Made the trip in record time last night. Drove all the way through and only got an hour long nap in. Man it felt good to be driving my truck again. Only problem is I could only pull off a little more than 15 MPG the whole trip and the SEL came on. I'll get around to scanning it one of these days, I need to catch up on sleep and school work.
Well welcome back! Glad the trip was good. Definitely sorry about your grandfather...but like you said he's in a better place and in no pain now. :)
Let the modding begin.
Thanks! Yea, I just wish I would have bought his '65 Ford Fairlane from him before he passed. It was supposed to be willed to me but my aunt and uncle ended up getting it. It sucks because I put a lot of time into it and they are beating the crap out of it. My uncle is an idiot when it comes to anything mechanical and he's already got the ignition torn apart because he thought something was wrong. Now he doesn't know how to put it back together so my dad has to fix the damn thing. Such a shame, the car was in damn good condition.
I'm not sure where to begin with the truck though. It needs some cosmetic work first. If I had someplace to work on it I would love to delve into the engine now. It's got the cold engine knock and burns about a quart of oil between changes. Any modding will have to wait until next summer when I'm back home for a month and have a garage to use.
Edit: Codes were P0420, which IIRC is the catalytic converter code. Lame.
