I love the idea of this event I just don't understand why you would want to eliminate drag trucks from the equation. I'm sure you're talkin about flaco but I think he'll still be able to make the route you're talking about as will we. So what else are you going to do to keep us away?
Us?
Ducky don't count us out. We're comin after flaco
Oh right so having everyone PM them for suggestions and then making a list of GOOD suggestions not "They need more mustard at the stand"
there will be some fast trucks showing up this year. If you think you are showing up to be the fastest make some call outs, get you some challenges made. There are plenty of guys on here that would be glad to race your "LSX DRAG TRUCK" with a street truck.....lol...I love how people that share no information on their ride try to say they are going to show up and turn 8s.....:bs:
I'll the first to tell you ours is a street truck. Many of you will disagree though since it has no a/c, back halved and will ride on big tires
we will come up with rules im sure for the required street truck info, but all we can really inforce IMO is: current and valid registration, insurance, and inspection. we cant get much more street truck than that when it really comes down to it.
I really like the idea guys. I really do. Look to adopt another organizations rules like Super Chevy. They state that a street car/truck, can be towed to the track, must be tagged, insured, used mufflers and run DOT approved tires for the street and then be able to make the X amount of miles cruise.
You may then, once back to the track, change tires, and remove mufflers.
Then have different classes
King of the Street - the fastest of the fast that made the cruise
Outlaw - did or did not make the cruise but have a badass LSx truck
Then do your slower classes. Just somethin to think about. I'd love to help in any way I can. I've organzed several sucessful get togethers and used to organize atv dune drag racing.
sounds good Parker, i was going to do a little research on other events and the way the classify their vehicles. we don't have to do it the same way as the others, but a little insight could help a ton.
another thing are tires. don't want anyone getting nabbed on the 10 mile cruise for their slicks. not looking to get anyone ticketed for something that could be prevented
This is all a rough draft, you can tow it to the track, and riding along with the cruise only qualifies you to try and participate in the TOP 16.
More details as we talk about it.
Post some more suggestions, keep them coming!
What, it's over 900 now lol.
Thanks again Jay!! Every bit helps!
Open to suggestions.
Sounds like we need two trophies. Nobody is eliminating anyone, the Top 16 has requirements, if you don't fit, then you don't race.
We do need to come up with something for the All out Fastest LSX powered truck.
The top 16 is meant for a certain type of truck, if the rules dictate, that doesn't mean we can't have another set of rules for Funny Car chassis trucks.
We'll be able to change tires, most have a set for the street and a set for the track, only makes sense, plus, we don't want anyone having any issues with the law by running slicks on the hiway.
I dont see how a A/C would matter... Nor what tires you have on. If your ride cant make 10 miles of highway driving wit/o running out of gas, overheating, or breaking then I couldnt imagine how the owner of said ride would even think to classify themself as a "street truck" Ive seen full blown trailer queens that could do that with nothing but a better fuel cell.
If anything making it closer to 10 miles with some stop and go driving along with it. Being parked with no adaquate cooling could be a big problem to a drag truck trying to be a imposter. haha.
+1 for a lsx fastest over all as well
And just a thought Allen. TO keep the first round from being lop sided why not once the top 16 qualify have them pick out of a hat from 1-16. Whatever number is pulled is who you race. Then whoever 16 is cant complain if they pick number 1. It was all luck of the draw. No one to blaim except oneself
*edit* Reason I bring this up. I see the top 4 being close to 8s perhaps while the lower half of the pack will only be mid 10s... Not very interesting. You could assign a number for the trucks 1-8 after the first round to go into normal bracket racing.....
This is a great Idea. I think the top 16 is gonna be a stacked field, damn i wish i could make it into it. But the cruise idea is perfect.
AC and tires won't matter, so no problem there.
As for some stop and go traffic, that would be great, weed out all the tricky guys!
We'll have a fastest ls truck award, but the top 16 is something different.
Anyone with the most money or willing to put all their money into a project can have the fastest ls truck, it's just a matter of priorities.
The top 16 isn't biased towards the faster trucks, it can swing anyway you want it to, and will.
Imagine some show off runs all out, he runs 9.2 , and say he's the fastest, well good for him, but another guy just ran fast enough to make it in the top 16 at 10.8 , but can actually run a 8.9, well, now lets see the fastest beat the slowest. It's all about games and messing around, if you mess around and only run fast enough to be in the top 16 and there are faster trucks that haven't ran, and they take all the spots, well that's you're fault, shouldn't have been sandbaggin lol.
SO, just cause you're fast doesn't' mean you have to run and qualify as #1, but you better not sandbag and run too slow, because you have no idea who is running faster or holding out trying to fake you out.
#1 qualifier in the top 16 doesn't always mean he is the fastest truck and will run #16. Some of the slower guys could be faster.
Does that help the issue with fastest vs slowest?
I'm thinking to qualify as the Top16:
- x # of miles of higway with a little stop and go driving
- no refueling
- tire change ok for cruise
- must be on time when pace truck leaves 11am
- any mods accepted
- registered, inspected (have to be legal for street use)
- no citations during cruise for not being street legal (take your own chances)
anything else or is that fair? let's discuss what needs to be added or removed.
I think this is a great opp. for a certain set of trucks to race similar trucks.
We'll also have an open bracket class that anyone can participate in, so nobody is left out.
We're also open to any other competitions, so let's hear them.
btw, if we're going to run all day and night, I think we'll need help this time, with donations, prizes, etc. But we may just run half day again, it depends how much it costs.
i don't know, but if you can't make a 10 mile cruise on a tank of gas, that SOB ain't no street truck
-those competing in the top 16 may have their times not displayed until the qualifying run to get into the top 16
-"NO EXCUSES" on the front of the official shirts too
edit***we need the National Anthem
I think its a great idea after thinking it over a little. Allen, its your race, you make the rules(with our help of course). I think if you want in the top 16, bring your truck ready to be in that position...I.e. It better be able to make the cruise
Id put between 10 and 15 where that x is and call it offical haha. Sounds dead on to me.
As far as the fastest and slowest There are probably about 8 trucks that, unless 8 more pop up between now and then, are about a full sec faster.... Thats all im thinking of.
sounds pretty good to me
I like the mind games, can be frustrating for those competing but it's a good show for the spectators
