got my heads back from being milled, had .025 taken off wich ended up giving me a little over a 61 cc chamber. which means I will be running at just under 10.6:1 compression. got them assembled with my dual springs, and got them put on the engine. after all that I found out my pushrods that I just got last week were too long. so I called up texasspeed and had a new set 2 days later(I've only had good experiances with them). then I installed my pushrods and roller rockers, one od my rocker bolts got in a fight with my heads and the bolt won. after I pulled out the bolt with the threads from the head I went and found some helicoils and a tap and got that fixed. Then cut all my rocker arms down that were sticking into my intake ports.

-anyone need a set of 7.4 hardened pushrods?
WOW! Milled 1/4" off the heads? might have 20:1 compression now. Look sweet. :thumb: Oh, I see you fixed it.
Dude, are you willing to answer a few questions concerning what, where, and how?? I am trying to get started on an almost identical project, and I can see you will know a LOT of stuff that will keep me from waasting time AND money!! Are you willing to help???
looks great! and u just took off .025" not .250"(1/4) right? Just checking. and yes texas speed is a very good company great place to get good parts for cheap and easy.
Looks awesome!!!!!
You have just inspired me to do the same to my motor except painting the intake because ill be painting the block orange.
found an 8.8 3.73 with a posi today for $65, should be picking it up tomorrow or tuesday. also ordered drop leafs, traction bars called daggers, and a 4 cyl gauge cluster (7k tach). just waiting on everything... hopefully everything should get here this week
small update,
got my guage cluster in from zx9rgreen and installed it. took me longer to figure out which one to install then it did to put it in. thanks bro:tup:

got my rear all stripped down, taking it to get narrowed after I finish this post.

got my posi out and torn down, and installed the ford motor sports carbon clutch kit. if you do this do not handle the friction modifier without gloves, it is the worst smelling stuff I have EVER used and it soaks into your hands. seriously its still making my feel sick.

other then that i've just been doing detail work, cleaning stripping and painting stuff. hopefully I'll have some real progress soon. should be starting on wiring this weekend
Don't like the smell of whale oil, do you?
whoaa where did you get the cluster at? or whats it out of? damnit I want a tach that goes to 7k
I think all the V8 clusters look like that David...my 4.3 goes to 6 though.
I'm pretty sure the full size ones only go to 6k no matter the engine. this cluster if from a 4 cyl 5 speed s10.
what was the reason of the 8.8 ford axel? i know it was cheap but ive heard they arnt much better than a 10bolt.
hey...nice build...always wanted to do one...have you made anymore progress??
nothing much, work has been hell getting ready for an osha and arms inspection, and I started school last week. I have this weekend off and I hope to get a few things done. headers are at the coaters, and my springs are still on backorder. but when I finally get everything it will be all at once, so i'll be swamped. hopefully i'll be ready to throw everything on when it gets here.
Cant wait! Hope it goes together well
Sweet!!!
Keep up the good work man.
thanks guys, headers should be here before saturday, I have drill this weekend so I wont have much time to do anything on it.
Ok so whats going on whit you....have you really been not making any progress?
JSFWY man.......but seriously whats going on?
did you use a premade kit or are you making your own brackets?
awesome man. truck is coming along very nice. i like the details on the motor. not only is it cool seeing a gen 3 in a s-10 but it will also be something to look at it.
now dont get me wrong.. i love jbweld and ducttape too. but your not worried about a leak forming at all on the intake?
no progress, work and school are killing me, should have some time next weekend, but thats only hoping. I finally got a set of headers but I don't know if I can get them to work. they sent me some long tubes since the ones I originally ordered are taking so long. still waiting on my springs, never order from sport truck direct, these assholes are worthless. worst customer service ever!
its jb weld and silicon, and yes I think it will hold just fine. I was going to use some fiberglass resin but jb sticks to metal better. This is only a temporary manifold anyways, when I get some more money I will be getting a FAST or edelbrock setup.
I ordered mounts from brphotrods.com, they were expencive for what they are but they do open up some room.
any pics of the mounts?
sorry it took so long, got a few little things done this weekend. here are the pics
old ****ty home made ones that came on the truck with the dead 4.8. I had to grind off the bottom part that was welded to the frame.

new ones from brp, I wanted to get them mocked up and drilled today, but I ended up cleaning stuff up and some other misc crap.
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...0/IMG_3275.jpg
got word that I should be getting some stuff in this week, but i've heard that a few times. Motor will be in for mockup and wiring this week, then pulled for final welding and install when I get my last few parts. hoping for 2 weeks but i think i've said that 10 or so times through this thread.
thanks for the pics
Almost there! :hyper2:
long overdue update
engine mock up, it was a beautiful sight

got in my headers from headman, long story short I got the long tubes cause the mids weren't done yet. they fit great even let you turn pretty well, unless you want ac. since this is my daily i'll be getting the mids from them intstead. oh and you would need to mod your trans cross member to clear the collectors.

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...0/IMG_3281.jpg
I test fit all the ones on the driver side just don't have pics, you will need to mod your brake lines, it wouldn't be difficult especially compared to the rest of this headache.
oh and in case anyone needed to know jareds cooling setup fits just fine with truck acc. I was pretty worried about those big fans but there is still a bit of clearance.

this last pic gave me some motivation, too bad I have to take it all back out. notch a hair more out of the ac notch, don't need to but it will make me more comfortable. weld it up, bolt in mounts, and put on oil pan. then it will go back in for good. I have some time tomorrow and most of saturday to work on this. sunday I'm going to firebird raceway!
ps. my intake might be up for sale soon.
thats crazy the headers go around the frame and steering shaft like that
I had the cops called on me tonight, I almost feel like a dick since I was grinding off my bumpstops at 11:30pm, but all they would have had to do was ask me to quiet down and I would have cleaned up. I mean really, why not? I would have stopped when they asked and cops really do have better **** to do. The cop was cool, and he came when I was done and cleaning up. when he left I was really tempted to break out my blackcats bottle rockets, but I didn't want to be a dick to my other neighbors.
its more torn apart then I've ever had it.
Its been great to follow your build so far since I too have a LS10. I can't wait to see how your headers work out for you.
thanks I hope the new ones will fit with ac. you have a nice truck, I've been watching it on s10forum.com
