just wanted to throw this out there, maybe look at getting some ARP head studs to go back on it instead of the stock head bolts, it will be some insurance for the nitrous and they arent to horribly expensive
Definitely a very good idea. :thumb: Good call, Virgil.
where do i get these just any autoparts store.
Jegs, Summit, TSP, SDPARTS, search the internet. Be sure to get the right ones for your year model engine. LS1 style bolts will have four corner bolts in the rocker arm area at the ends that are shorter than the rest. Newer engines will have all 20 bolts the same length. I think that started in 2004, the 20 all being the same length.
the best studs would be 234-4317 if you have all 20 the same length. PN 234-4316 is for the LS1 with the shorter bolts as mentioned previously. Those are the stud kit PNs.
thanks guys :thumb:
If you want to go with bolts then 134-3610 is the 2004+ set that have them all the same length and 134-3609 is the older style with the shorter corner bolts. Be sure to pull your head bolts and confirm what you have before ordering.
yeah thats where i went wrong on my 05, i ordered then pulled heads and they were wrong cause they were the same length ones, but G you have plenty of time
Dayum, still sporting a rental car?
i bought the ARP head studs aswell from SD parts i think they were like 180$? but they are reusable where as the gm ones are not AND they are rated for nitrous! BUT MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW DIRECTIONS it took me probably an hour but i cleaned every drop of water or liquid out of the head bolt holes in the block. i guess they can crack if you dont! Spend the money now i guess and worry less about it later... good luck man. i promise your exhaust clip is coming im fighting a damn internet problem at home right now. lightning messed all kinds of stuff up. but i owe you big time I LOVE IT!
Wow dude--pretty tough to be bummin rides... But if you have enough people to bum them from, why not? It will all come in time man... Think of it this way--you are saving gas money from driving that thirsty pig around!
so me and chick took the heads and intake off this weekend it only took like an hour and a half but that was all we felt like doing considering cant afford to do anything else right now, i did take the heads to the machine shop, told em i was in no rush so they'll probably be done in about 3 weeks to a month, then i find out the U.S. Govt. is once again throwing a wrench in my plan:lol: my room mate just got activated and is leaving for iraq in 9 days now they gave him 13 days notice. So now i gotta move again, and i have to find a place, and come up with first months rent and a deposit along with everything else thats goin on:ugh2: oh well its just gonna suck for the next couple of weeks.
The deposits are the easy part. Moving SUCKS!
Or sell yourself to the crack whores on the corner of downtown McAlester. Wait--does McAlester even have a downtown section?
It's going to be getting TO the other line in a timely manner that's going to be your problem.
For the first 4 seconds maybe. Then I'm going to scream by you. You're going to think you're in reverse.
Hey you quoted me - I'm honored. :D
So the roommates unit ended up getting called back and are now not going to iraq so i dont have to move just yet which is fuggin awesome i was about to be stressed out like a mofo.
