would you have any interest making a set of 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 long tube headers for an S10 with an LS1 swap?? There is alot od people wanting LT headers for there swap, but no body makes any, just the Sanderson shorties with 1.5 primary and 2.5 collector, which are just to small IMO. Im building a 96 S10 with a 408/T56 swap for a buffy of mine that you can use for mock up of the headers if needed.
It was right before he put the truck up for sale on Ebay. Billy may have posted them.
Thanks Red.
HV6, The headers I'm making might fit the passenger side of the s-10. I remember some pics a guy had for an S-10 that were similar to mine. The drivers side might be a different story though due to the steering column.
Update:
I finshed up the fitment today and have to make a few minor modifications to both the drivers side and passesnger sides. I want to make sure you can use 1/4" - 5/8" adapter plates without clearance issues. The headers will work like they are but I want 1/2" to 3/4" clearance around the tight areas. I'm also going to make the primaries 1/2" to 3/4" longer where the come out of the flange to give spark plugs and wires plenty of clearance to avoid heat issues and tight spaces for plug installation. I know it's going to increase the price a small amount but I think I'm going to put narrow and wide band 02 bungs in the headers for tuning purposes and ARP header studs for installation. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll be sending them in for the intial set to get completed so you guys can see the quality that's been going to be put into them.
I'll give an update later on to let you know where I stand on these.
Thanks
Man I know I'm excited, and can't wait to see them.:yippee:
Thanks, these aren't truck headers but they are made from the same components and materials as the conversion headers I'm fabbing including the flanges, coating etc......I thought you guys would like a tease. LOL This is as far as I can go with this pic but you get the idea now. BTW, these are for a C6 Z06 if anyone would like to purchase a pair.
Man I cant wait either, so when do u think you'll have an idea on price?:hyper2:
I won't have a price until I send the set in for fabbibng that I just finished which will hopefully be next Monday. I'll post a price as soon as I can though.
haha SWEET you the man! can't frigen wait. will there be some without 02 bungs for us who will not be running 02 sensors?
Yes, or they might be plugged.
No problem. The headers were sent out last Friday for full length tubes. The company that's making them is loaded over on orders from major header manufacturers but I was told they would get on mine within the next couple of weeks so March isn't completely out of the question. As soon as they are completed I'll have to make a final fitment for quality assurance and then they will be sent out for coating. If you're wanting to stay legal with cats, they will be able to be purchased with Random Technolgy Metal Matrix converters. Don't give up on me guys........................:thumb:
This is definitely good news... if they are not quite ready by March, then I'll use the stock manifolds until their done. Not sure about the cats yet... the truck is registered in a non-emission county and no state inspection station looks for cats around there. DPS officers may be another story though. The wiring harness I'm getting won't have rear O2's. Also did you end up putting the wide and narrow O2 bungs? That is a cool feature, as I'm getting a wide band.
I for sure haven't given up on you.... in fact I'm counting on you.... lol. Seems like its a waiting game now. Thanx for the update!
Yes, I'm still planning on WB O2 bungs. I'm pretty excited myself!
Yes, March is still a possibility if the tubing bender finishes the orders ahead of me. These guys are pretty booked up and I was lucky to get a foot in the door with them since I'm just your local "Joe" hot rodder. It's been a long haul and I can't wait to get the first set of 1 7/8" bolted on with the supercharger. The first production sets will be 1 3/4" and then I'll have 1 7/8" for boost applications.
sweet i cant wait i have my exhaust cobbled right now just so i can start and move it but i have allot more work to do to it but i just cant wait to hear what its gonna sound like with the headers and the magnaflow muffler by chance do you know about how much these are gonna run??
We still haven't settled on the price yet but I'll try to keep them reasonable. There is a possibility of a discount with Random Technology cats and I'm working on a swap kit that will include headers, cats (if needed), motor adapter plates (to keep the motor at the right height for header clearance, fuel system setup and other goodies. I'm still pondering over this though. :tacos:
your the man nitrous i cant frigen wait!
if these will fit the OBS i am in.. since i plan on doing a 6.0 swap into my 1991 these will be great... caint wait to see them and the prices...
lol the headers i cant wait to see the prices i can...
I couldn't wait. I ordered a set of shortys 99-06 from jegs. Ceramic edelbrock for my 95 gmc with 6.0 coversion. They look like they will just fit. The front tube on both sides is longer, but, other then that they appear to be just like my 95 stainless headers for a 350 small block. Anyone have any comments as if they will work.
locrzn
Passenger side is going to be a PITA. Try it first. The driver side has a ton of room. You'll most likely hit on the UCA mounts.
It's still a shorty header with very little HP increase and small primaries. Good enough to get you up and running though.
I'll call the tubing company again Monday to see where my place in line has progressed.
hahah sounds good! the dealine is approaching :hyper2: i may have to run with nothing
I talked with the tubing company this morning and looks like they are still swamped for the next week with Race season upon us. There's still hope on having a few sets of the headers out by the end of March if things go right.
haha thats awesome though march isnt bad.
so any news on these headers??
put me down for a pair I just got my motor for my 92 but it will be a few months before it goes in.
I called and got the answering machine today. I'll try again tomorrow though. I know it's taking a long time but these were the only guys I could find to manufacture this style header and make full length tubes instead of multi-welds. Like I was told with race season here these guys are over loaded and build LSX headers for corvettes and dirt track cars. I was told not to mention the header company name because of the overwhelming response to calls and them not having all of the technical info like I do. I agree it has taken much longer than expected but all good things come in time right?
are you going to build a set for the 4x4 obs also?
Count me in to as long as they'll fit a 2000 5.3 4x4
I'll need a couple of dimensions off of the frame but if I made the templates right they should fit. The transfer case would be my only concerns but that should be far enough back out of the way.
i cant wait i got me some cash set aside for these. :hyper2::hyper2::hyper2:
