An aftermarket y-pipe made from mandrel bent tubing that is larger diameter than stock?

Dynatechs dont come coated they come as raw stainless, I got my set coated from a ceramic coater to help with underhood heat. Allstar you should just buy mine, you will never have to worry about them rusting through and they are equal length whereas the pacesetters arent which will net a small gain over the pacesetters. Main thing is they are made from stainless and you will never ever have to buy them again. They also ahve thicker flanges so they are less prone to leak due to warpage from expanding and contracting. I have yet to see any real complaints about the pacesetters besides some of the guys who have had them since they came out some of the coating is coming off and their y-pipe setup absolutely sucks, slip fit headers are a shitty design. If you do buy pacesetters get flanges of v-bands welded on much better design if you ever have to take them off.
stock collectors!? now im confused. i thought collectors were where all your tubes on ur headers combine into 1 pipe. to my knowledge manifolds dont have collectors because they merge into 1 pipe already. pacesetters come with a collector already on them, dont they? so confusing, someone straighten out this mess for me please.
Simple as this, NO lt header will bolt right in to the factory y-pipe. A collector is where all four primaries merge into the one main big pipe. The only "lt" headers that you can use the sotck y-pipe with are the arizona speed and marine headers, BUT they are more of a "long" mid-length header. You cant beat the pacesetters for the price especially if you live down south, but I didnt want to ever have to buy a set of headers ever again so I got the dynatechs, wasnt planning on going turbo then.
yeah that's what i thought. daniel threw me off when he said ur headers bold up to ur stock manifolds cuz thats not right then he said collectors and thats not right i guess. idk it was confusing but i did some searches and found the info i needed on that stuff. still dont see a reason that the dynatechs are so expensive other than they are stainless.

TByrne is selling the SuperMAXX headers only for $789, and a set of uncoated Pacesetters is about $450-475 (ballpark, $300 less). The cost of the stainless material alone in the Dynatechs is twice the price of mild steel, welding and fabricating with it is a total biatch (labor intensive and requires special tools and techniques), and the header flange on the Dynatechs is 3/8" thick (I am under the impression that the Pacesetter's flange is a scant thinner). The Dynatechs will survive at least 10 years (albeit they'll be blued), any mild steel header will not age well after a few years unless they are coated -and- to do that will require coating both inside and out (Pacesetters are only externally coated). The Dynatechs also have actual collector flanges welded on, the Pacesetters don't so you will have to purchase your own collector flanges and have them attached to have a comparable product. It is my understanding that the Dynatech flanges are surfaced true, I know that the Pacesetters aren't so if you want guaranteed gasket seal you will have to pay a machine shop a few bucks to deck the flanges. AFA fitment I think they are comparable in that regard, neither one just drops right in. A con on the Pacesetters is that you will have to pay an exhaust installer to plumb 3" tubing from the collectors to the catback, ie more expense.
To compare apples to apples, the full Dynatech smog-legal system is $1350-ish, and you can install it yourself with hand tools. The Pacesetters must be coated to live as long as the SS Dynatechs, so that's a purchase price of just under $700, plus collector flanges & labor to install them, plus custom fabrication of mid-pipes using the OE cats which btw are smaller than the 3" Pacesetter collectors. IMO when you add in the total costs involved the Dynatechs are only $200-300 more, and part of that can be offset as you would be able to sell your OE cats for at least $100, making the difference even less; and if you shop smart and can save another $100 on a group purchase the Dynatechs are well within $100-150 of the Pacesetter install. Well on paper anyway.
OTOH, if you can DIY your own exhaust fab or have it done economically for you then that moves costs more to the Pacesetter's favor.
Just food for thought. And if you think $789 is expensive for a set of headers, be thankful you don't own a Vette.
