I HAVE FOUND THAT THE ONES PAST 2002 ARE DIFFERENT? THE LINES GOING IN ARE DIFFERENT FOR COOLING PURPOSES. MINE IS AN 00 AND IT DOES NOT HAVE INTERCHANGABLE GEARS LIKE THE NEWER ONES. LINES ARE A EASY FIX THOUGH. BOLT PATTERNS ARE THE SAME. THE ONE THING ODD ABOUT MINE IS THAT IT HAS A FLAT FLEX PLATE. I THINK MINE WAS THE ONLY YEAR THAT IT CAME LIKE THIS. THATS WHY I HAD A CONVERTER ISSUE LAST MONTH. NOW I HAVE THE RIGHT CONVERTER AND IT WORKS REALLY GOOD. JUST MY TWO CENTS.

Yeah they changed up in &#39;99 or &#39;01, I forget. Something with the manual low band. Nothing major.

For 1999 models:

Manual 2nd band - 1.25" now vs 1"
Manual 2nd band pin - 2.730" now vs 2.530"

To use wider band in older case, you need the band, piston, pin, and spring. It&#39;s an update kit from GM. 24223081

All right from the ATSG manual. What does this mean? Go with a 2001 or newer 80E if you&#39;re going for a swap. If you&#39;re just rebuilding yours, you can add the updates if you wish to help increase capacity.

So I would be bettr off selling the old truck, and buying a newer rebuilt trans the way I want it, or need it to be. Guess I need to get on that if I want to do it any time soon. At least it&#39;s tax time and people will have money to spend.

If the truck runs, why did you buy it for the trans alone?

A core 80E should be &#036;200 or less.

I drove it for about 3 years for work stuff(pulling trailers, hualing heavy loads), now I have a different job with a company service truck, so I got a rcsb(pretty much a car) for a dd.

If the truck runs, I&#39;d just sell it for more cash...
