please dont...haha i think it would look cool totally shaved in the back with a welded in roll pan but i have no idea where you could mount that fire/ice light bar...what about at the way top of your tailgate? that would be some true custom fabbing, but i dont know..i always thought the totally clean shaved look, looks the best...hahaha

i like the shaved look to an extent, actually i like the 2003 and up regular tailights. i think the truck looks stupid with the lights filled in cuz its part of the truck. to me its like a woman with a flat chest...something is missing. ive never seen a fill in job ive loved...NEVER. thats my honest opinion. the door handles and stuff make it look good, but ur gonna have to have lights back there and to me nothing looks better than real tailights. sorry if i offended anyone its just my taste&#33;

Just a thought. Is your truck lowered? If so , how much? If the truck is going to any heavy bumper to bumper traffic on the highways then I would stay away from the lights in the rollpan because they are really low and not the easiest to see, especially at dawn or dusk with the sun in your face. I do think that it is a great look but I like you wanted to stay reasonable. :twocents: Good luck.

ahhhhh good call never even thought about teh lights being hard to see down low, because my truck is lowered........ i think what i am gonna try and have my body guy do is fab the lights into the top portion of the tailgate.... ive seen smaller sets of lights done in the top of the tailgate and i like the way they look.....

where did you get your stripes done because thats what im having planned for my truck as well??

I like the molded in lights to the top of the tail gate. I think that is a great custom touch. You can even use the paint scheme to help hide them. I did the stripes myself along with the rest of the paint. (except for the flames) One thing to think about if you are going to do the stripes, on the hood, IMHO I think it may actually look a little better if the stripes were tapered out slightly as they got closer to the windsheild. Not much, maybe a half inch or so. Especially if you have a cowl hood. I was trying to stay true to the dimensions of a early 70 chevelle SS. But I saw one at a hotrod show on Sun that had the stripes tapered and I doubt most people even noticed, but it seemed to flow better. It could be because the hood is so long though. Try photo shopping it and see which way you like it. :twocents:

i planon getting an HD hood so i like your idea of keeping the demensions of teh originals..... now my next choice is whether to place them all teh way across the top roof, and bed cover....

1st: back up lights are not a state requirement....so you can remove them without a problem. the 3rd brake light, however, IS a requirement if it was OEM.

as far as the pan...have to contacted custom classics? Mike has a pan that looks better then the sir Mikes...and is cheaper..AND can mold the lights you want in.

i dont know who or where custom classics is... im back in Dallas now, so my SA and Austin hookups are a little distant....... especially to leave the truck for about a week for body work to be done.... but im all ears though when it comes to saving some &#036;&#036; and a finding a good body guy....

i have a guy/buddy up here that says he will shave the doors, replace passenger door skin, shave tail lights, and mold in my roll pan for 800 primed... i havent discussed molding in the light bar yet so thatll prolly be a lil extra added on.... all this is welded in, not just filled

AND by the way its good to see you back on here man, i was wondering where the black beast went to
