Nelson Tune Trans Question

I don&#39;t mean to seem like a smartass but if you want a vehicle that can run 100,000-150,000 miles without breaking parts, maybe you should leave it stock and drive it easy.


More power is ALWAYS harder on parts.

nelson tune is the best tune for any kind of application. whether it be sts, n/a pushing 400+ horsepower or anything.

as stated earlier in the posts, no matter what parts are going to wear out. but like jethro said, if you get a live tune you can control how hard of a tune you get. dont judge the tunes just from reading this. YOU can control how much your truck can handle with tuning. and if you tell allen what your looking for, he will be able to help you in tuning it to its potential without harm.

and as for transmission pressure from the tune, he is able to take all the pressures by the reigns and tweak it just right without putting too much harm to it.

trust me, these tunes are so worth it.

If all you&#39;re wanting is better fuel mileage he can tune for that. If you want performance and mileage, no problem. If you&#39;re going to be drag racing then he can turn the pressure up on the transmission. It is all up to what you want the tune to do for you.

If you&#39;re even CONSIDERING a tune - that means you want to go faster and harder.

If you&#39;re going to go faster and harder, parts will break SOONER.

Not SOON necessarily - just SOONER.

So the question is, do you want to baby it or have better performance?

Can&#39;t really have both...unless you have the performance potential but just don&#39;t use it which makes no sense...

Sounds like you just need an average semi-agressive tune (93 octane) with the torque management removed by about 80%. Torque Management ™ is what you are feeling as the "lag" between the 1st & 2nd shift. I really don&#39;t think he will increase the line pressure on a stock trans, just reduce or remove the TM.

It is well worth it. I was worried at 1st like you, and only had 75% of the TM removed. It only took a month until I went back & had him remove it all.

Been reading some of the posts.
For the newbies on Nelson I can tell you is worth every onze of time.
I have my 2wd daily driver truck with lot of hoopups, and it pulls harder every time. As for the trans, only had a little too much pressure problem solved in a sec.
My truck is 13sec N/A and drive it all the time HARD, cause is not possible for me to have all that power on the go pedal, and not to press it all the time from light to light.
I know driven the way I am things are gonna wear faster, but that&#39;s not a problem, is a welcome consecuense.

The only difference is that I had a Email tune, not a live tune, cause I&#39;m not in the states, and with all that, my car is near perfection.

Soon STS and SD tunning will come for this truck, so, for the in doubt ones.....go for it. Chevy has realiable trucks that can handle whatever we throw on them. An we also have Nelson for the know how part&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;

Screw it if you ain&#39;t breaking something you aren&#39;t having any fun. :devil: :burnout:

Adding "modifications" to a finely engineered system, sometimes takes components beyond their original design capabilities. When "stress testing" components on your ride, Allen Nelson is sort of equivalent to the insurance that you buy in case of an accident. He is there prior to the "accident", not afterwards. He will assist you in tuning your vehicle to squeeze every ounce of power that is safely tunable in ways that most tuners just cannot seem to find. He is actually the best power adder you will ever buy for your experimental efforts in improving the design flaws left in your setup from the factory..... :laugh:

He started me on my journey to turn a 6000 lb shoebox into a 12 second truck...... The ride has been fun and I have manged to increase my rear wheel horsepower to a level 2 and a half times what it started life with....and as of yet, (crossed fingers, knocking on wood, saying 10 hail mary&#39;s) I have broken nothing major. I have driven my Blown 500RWHP AV since September with no issues..... I do forsee a built tranny in my future though..................


BTW...mine is a daily driver so I can&#39;t afford to break anything......
