Great job! I bet you love the way it runs!

Looks good plus you got me beat by 100 HP. What are you going to do for A/C? 2-80? 2 windows down and 80 mph? :smile:

I picked up an A/C Compressor from a '93 Bravada. We'll be fabbing up some brackets in the next week or two, but first I need to get the electric fans installed and a new intake setup as the A/C will interfere with the intake tube.

That intake tube was the only thing we could get to fit with the fan being so close to the motor. Once the efans are installed, I'll be making some sort of cold air box with nicer aluminum tubing to the throttle body.

Nice job! I like the green wire wraped around the coolant overflow tank hose! J/K I bet it hauls!

The truck hauls for being a stock motor. Quite a bit faster than my friends stock Silverado SS, but a lot of that is because of the weight of the OBS and the tune on the LS2.
I bet that STS setup is fast.
Here's a pic of what the engine looked like before we started the swap
[attachmentid=526]
The truck it came out of obviously burned to the ground for the most part. I took an hour or two to completely wire wheel the motor with an angle grinder to a very nice polished look, put new valve covers on it, and a new front timing cover and that was it. Motor looked better than new when I was done with it.
holy shit that things fuuuuuucked up looks like brand new now compared to that picture lol
Wow what a restoration on that burned up engine. The STS works great with a best so far of 12.7 @ 105MPH. It has been retuned since then and will see some track time as well as a 6 hour drive this friday.
damn, that was probably an awesome deal on a torched engine.
Holy BBQ Batman! Excellent work on bringing that crispy critter back to life! :thumb:

Picked up the engine for $1800. Unknown mileage, but its from a 2005 SSR so I'm guessing very low mileage. The junkyard has had the car for awhile also. We checked out the internals before we put it in the truck, and it looked brand new inside. I'm guessing less than 5,000 miles on the motor. At the very max, 10,000 miles.
I was very surprised at how clean the motor came.
Wow, they started putting the LS2 in the SSR? Last I heard they were sticking with the aluminum 5.3L.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(RedHeartbeat @ Apr 13 2006, 07:58 PM) </div>Yea, the '05 and '06 SSRs got the LS2 and option of a 6 speed manual.Quote:
