Just get a 4.8 or another 5.3 for your truck and sell it running. I kept thinking the 73-87's would be worth something.

My uncle laughed and told him, "my nephew won't sell it less than $25K".
I had to laugh... told him if anyone accepted a $25K proposition for my '86, I'd take off work to get the paperwork done.
He said, "I knew he wouldn't go for it, that's why I said it".
Don't know about anywhere else, but the old Box-Style Chevy's are sought after in LA. I told a guy in the BR, LA area about the truck. Dunno much, but maybe he'll be interested. Good luck!
I know it's not worth it to anyone, but I wouldn't start over for less than 20K right now.
